News Topic: NOKIA Nokia
According to foreign media reports, Nokia has reached an exclusive agreement with lens manufacturer Carl Zeiss to jointly develop high-end smartphones, and announced that a flagship model will be launched this month. Nokia and Carl Zeiss said on Wednesday local time that the agreement is valid for several years. Nokia hopes that cooperation with Carl Zeiss will help it compete more effectively with other smartphones, including the Apple iPhone.
IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo stated that since cameras are increasingly important in smartphones, this deal benefits Nokia. "Smartphone manufacturers will continue to improve camera resolution and focusing capabilities to achieve differentiated competition."
Nokia stated that the first smartphone using its PureView technology will be released this month, equipped with a 41-megapixel Carl Zeiss sensor.
Analysts have said that sales of Nokia's new smartphone may not be very good because it runs the Symbian operating system. Nokia plans to use PureView technology in future Windows Phone devices.
