Nokia would rather die than use Android

Why did Nokia refuse to use Android even unto death? Nokia's Vice President of Smartphones, Jo Harlow, said that at the time, Nokia had explored the possibility of cooperation with both Google and Microsoft in depth. However, making Android phones would have made Nokia just the 21st Android manufacturer, lacking differentiation. Nokia's vision was not merely to become a phone manufacturer. Interpretation: Choosing Microsoft was a decision of pride and strategy for the Nokia giant, preferring to die in glory rather than live in mediocrity.

Aren't the Nokia N8 and N9 using Android?
Nokia is too confident that if it collaborates with Android, it proves it has lost to Android. Who isn't afraid of losing? Nokia is still waiting for Android to cooperate with it.
