On May 14, according to foreign media reports, Yahoo officially announced today that its CEO Scott Thompson, who had only been in office for four months, will resign due to false representations regarding his academic credentials. This is the fourth Yahoo CEO to resign in the past five years.

Yahoo's global media head Ross Levinsohn will serve as interim CEO, and board member Fred Amoroso will serve as the new chairman. Current Yahoo board chairman Roy Bostock has agreed to leave the board.

In a statement, Amoroso said: 'The board is pleased with these adjustments and the settlement with Third Point, and firmly believes that these measures are in the best interest of shareholders.'

Thompson became Yahoo CEO in January this year. He was appointed president of PayPal in early 2008, having previously served as the company's CTO, in charge of IT, product development, and infrastructure. Before joining eBay, he worked at Inovant, a technology company under Visa, and also served as CIO of Barclays Global Investors.
