A Brief Guide to Civilization V
One Principle: Handle things well with money, try to avoid situations where payment can't be made. Having a few extra cities doesn't hurt, some for the frontline, some to accelerate technology or restore satisfaction. 1. Defend the Homeland - Tutorial video, no pressure; city building and defending operations. 2. Battle of Two Cities - Tutorial video, still no pressure; production and technology operations; army and combat (ranged attacks cause damage, melee takes cities). 3. Hidden Knives and Swords - Tutorial video, initially pressured due to army level differences; open multiple iron mines, surround the city with heavily armored troops for a quick push. 4. One Against Two - Diplomacy chapter, essentially a rogue strategy; occupy a weak side's city, give money to maintain peace; quickly produce troops, then occupy another city from the weak side; finish battles in one turn and then negotiate peace to prevent the opponent from moving first in the next turn; station troops at the border, if no money is given, quickly wipe them out; leave troops in the original city to prevent the strong side from taking it, then fight the strong side head-on, accumulate superior forces, and push quickly. 5. Land is King - Development chapter, rapidly grow the population to 7, satisfaction to 7; a restriction is that satisfaction cannot drop below zero, build multiple arenas, and at the right time leave a few cities' production idle; don't worry too much about army quality because as long as satisfaction doesn't drop below zero, there won't be wars. 6. All or Nothing - Stimulus chapter, sprint to develop technology to gunpowder to pass; war begins immediately, so don't spread your initial troops too far; build many cities, rush to produce troops to protect them, that's the meaning of 'all or nothing'. 7. Challenge Innovation - Combat chapter, purely about battling and conquering countries, no technical content; at full condition, infantry can KO cannons, artillery can KO cavalry, pay attention to formations. 8. Enlightenment Period - Peace chapter, when fighting becomes boring, pursue peace; use force to subdue opponents, they will automatically negotiate; ensure sufficient money, maintain troop strength; avoid capturing cities and going for total destruction, otherwise it continues the long battles from the previous chapter. 9. Railway Tycoon - Construction chapter, focus on building high-speed rail to resist bandit disruptions; simple task, build railways connecting 7 cities; but don't rush to complete the railway network, leave the last segment of every railway first, accumulate superior forces in each city; once the railway network is connected, bandits will appear in empty spaces between cities, use superior forces to eliminate them. 10. World War - Grand Battle chapter, with the goal of ending the war; one against three, initially use forests and mountains as shields, start with cannons, then use artillery, tanks, and planes to repel the enemy. When the enemy's living forces are reduced to a certain extent, they will come for peace talks; initiating peace negotiations yourself can also succeed; otherwise, the city will be captured and the nation destroyed. 11. Nuclear War Crisis: The nuclear war chapter has the bloodiest plot design, aiming to eliminate enemy personnel; First, focus on construction, especially railways and uranium mines, and do not rush to launch nuclear bombs, otherwise you will be at a disadvantage; Launch nuclear bombs from five cities at the same time, targeting cities that have just recovered from previous nuclear attacks; the scenario is completed once 100 units of casualties are first achieved. The seven grids in the centers of the three front-line cities will repeatedly be attacked by nukes, so do not station units there or attempt repairs; Army units positioned adjacent to each other will trigger nuclear attacks, so block the only middle passage and, when appropriate, create a gap to rush through and capture a city. 12. Unknown Enemy Situation: The Pressure chapter has significant level differences between armies; eliminating 30 enemy units of a higher level will complete the scenario; Surround one mechanical transport vehicle with three tanks, one main battle tank with five tanks; Construct a few more cities, as some being captured is inevitable, and use nuclear bombs to compensate for the army's level gap; Ensure satisfaction levels do not delay production. 13. At the Gates of the City: Upgraded Nuclear War chapter, eliminate 5 waves of doomsday mechas; The main goal is to capture a few city-building points rich in resources, but they are guarded by tanks, so troops are needed to seize them; Doomsday mechas appear at the four corners of the map—use nuclear bombs to weaken them, then finish them off with tanks, transport vehicles, and rocket artillery. 14. Alpha Star: Future chapter, the scenario is completed once a spaceship is built; Deploy doomsday units as soon as possible.
