Chapter 16 The Mother Entity Appears
Everything had been going relatively smoothly, if it weren't for a rather ill-timed guard appearing on the road, we might have already gotten the supplies, but now…?
When I saw the red mother entity, glowing with a faint green light, rushing toward us at high speed, I really wished I could put a few more bullets into the corpse on the ground. How could it not die properly? Even in death, it drags us along with it!?
"Damn! It's so fast!"
Old Wan retreated to my side, blinking at me as he said, "Well, now we don't have to sneak around like thieves anymore. So, what should we do next?"
"What else can we do? Of course, we retreat. I don't want to become a bio-mutant."
"No!" Just as we were planning to retreat to the original room, Hei Zushen suddenly shouted, "No, we've already made it this far. It won't be long before we find the equipment supplies. If we go back now, won't everything be for nothing?!"
"I don't want that either! But the situation is urgent. The bio mother entity has already charged forward. If we don't retreat and other ghosts join in, everything will be unimaginable!"
"No, I absolutely cannot let the bullets get hurt for nothing!"
After saying this, he glared fiercely at Old Wan and me: "You two, don't think I don't know what you're thinking! Anyway, you already have excellent equipment. Whether you use it or not is none of your concern, right?"
"You idiot!" I was almost speechless. I didn't expect this guy to be so competitive, now he still wants to get the supplies. "Say whatever you want, but we're definitely retreating."
"Cowards!"
Hei Zushen shouted: "It's just a mother entity, yet you're so scared. You really disappoint me! You want to retreat, huh? Then take the bullets with you!" After saying this, he shoved the bullets we were holding toward us. But the bullets pushed back against Hei Zushen: "Captain, when we all go back, what exactly do you want to do?"
"Of course, I want to retrieve the supplies! Do you think I'd rely on those two cowards?" After saying this, he looked at us with disdain.
"I really can't with you!"Old Wan shook his head. He had seen foolish people before, but never someone as foolish as you. Clearly knowing the mother creature is coming, yet still trying to play the hero here.

"Stop talking nonsense. If you want to leave, leave quickly!" Hei Sniper shoved the bullets toward us and grabbed his M16 rifle, quickly running forward. "Damn! This guy really can't be saved. Sophie, let's go, forget that idiot!"

"Old Wan!" Seeing Hei Sniper's silhouette ahead, I shook my head. "I can't let him take the risk alone. You take the bullets back. I'll go see him."

"Are you insane?" Old Wan shouted angrily. "You want to care about that kind of idiot? You're just too soft-hearted!"

"Maybe!" I smiled bitterly. "Anyway, I can't just watch him go to die. You..."

Before I could finish, Old Wan interrupted, "Fine, fine, fine, I really can't do anything with you! If you're going, I'll go too. With me there, maybe you'll be a bit safer."

"Wait, I also want to go with you. I can't just watch the captain face danger without doing anything!"

"But your injury..."

I originally wanted to persuade him to stay, but at that moment, a roar from the bio-mother came from ahead, 'Graaah!'

"Damn! That idiot!"

We dashed forward recklessly. Before approaching, we could already hear Hei Sniper's machine gun firing, 'rat-a-tat-tat'! We ran even faster toward the sound.

There! Hei Sniper jumped up, back facing us, leaping to the stairway while furiously sweeping the area below.

"Captain!" Hei Sniper turned toward the voice, shooting as he shouted, "Why are you here? Get away from here!"

"Do you think we want to come?" Old Wan simultaneously jumped ahead to the stairway, firing at the ghosts below, "Sophie and Bullets! Hei Sniper and I will hold them off here. You guys quickly go get the supplies!"

"The ones getting the supplies should be Hei Sniper and Bullets!" Since we all had decent gear and I didn't know what weapons Hei Sniper was proficient with, they had to go themselves. I hurriedly ran up to help hold the line. Hei Sniper saw I had come to help and nodded at me, then turned to grab the equipment. The supply equipment was just behind the stairway, so it wouldn't take long to reach it.I saw the glowing red monster below, holding a giant steel claw in each hand, its ferocious ghost face full of fangs, and a pair of lantern-like big eyes staring at us, trying to charge up to the floor we were on.

Of course, Lao Wan and I would not let that guy succeed. Relying on our good equipment and abundant bullets, we kept shooting at the monster. The 'Thompson' submachine gun in my hand is the lightest compared to other heavy weapons, with a good rate of fire, strong power, and many bullets. Lao Wan's M60 heavy machine gun (the same gun that you all use in the biohazard mode) was even more powerful with more bullets, the only weakness being that the gun itself was too heavy, making it hard to aim accurately. But once you hit it, it would drain a lot of health quickly.

With both of us well-equipped, our combined attack power was enormous, and the floor below was filled with constant screams and howls!

The monster below seemed to realize it couldn't get the better of us and suddenly dodged backward, disappearing who knows where. Whew! Finally retreated, but we couldn't be careless—who knows when it will charge again? We all witnessed the speed of the bio-mother firsthand.

‘Aow!' ‘Aow!'

That sound? Before I could catch my breath, I heard the roar of the bio-mother, and judging from the sound—it's two of them!

"Oh my God! Can anyone live in peace anymore!" Lao Wan wiped the sweat off his forehead, loaded his M60 to full, and aimed it at the floor again.

"Damn, they're coming so quickly. They must have been attracted by the noise we made!" If handling one bio-mother was manageable, we couldn't guarantee handling two at once. No, we had to finish this quickly—the longer it drags on, the worse it is for us. Who knows how many other monsters are rushing over!

"Hey! Are you two ready? They're getting more and more!"

As soon as he said that, Hei Ju Shen and his team were rushing over. Hei Ju Shen carried a sniper rifle on his back and held an RPK machine gun in his hands. Zi Dan had an M60 heavy machine gun in his hands.

Great! We had to finish them off in one go. Seeing them approach gave us a huge confidence boost. I braced my Thompson and started firing violently at the monsters, showing them just how powerful we were! When the Black Sniper arrived, he didn't say a word and took the lead, throwing a grenade straight down.

‘Boom!' The mother monster below let out a scream and was blown away. 'Did they? Did the explosion kill them?'

'It's good if they died that quickly!' Looking at the monsters below, which I didn't know where they'd been thrown, I quickly took this chance to reload Thompson with a new clip. 'Although they aren't dead yet, I believe those hits just now took a lot of their health away!'

'Hmph! That's why I said, don't be afraid. The more you fear them, the less confidence you have. But aren't we winning now!' The Black Sniper proudly rested his RPK on his shoulder, looking confident, as if saying following me is never wrong.

I really wanted to go up and give him a harsh slap. Doesn't this guy understand? Without us here, he would have already been infected and turned into a bio-ghost. 'Aoo! Aoo! Aoo!'

Damn! What's that sound?! We had just driven off the two mother monsters, but now downstairs came an increasing number of monsters, their wailing like wolves! It seemed they knew we were hiding on the third floor and were pushing constantly toward the staircase, about to rush up!

'One, two, three, five, seven? No! There are at least dozens of monsters downstairs!' Oh my god! Old Wan yelled, 'This isn't a matter of equipment now. Even if your gear is the best, it won't work!'

We could have handled a couple, but now there were at least a dozen monsters pushing upstairs. We couldn't defeat them. What should we do? Run! Seeing the situation below, even the Black Sniper couldn't stay smug. Everyone quickly turned around and ran back.

How did it come to this, attracting so many monsters at once? They aren't all going to come here, right? But why are there so many? Weren't there at most only two bio-mother monsters? Could it be that the ones below are all infected mercenaries? That would be too many! How many are there? Besides us, is there anyone else left in Zone 13? We...

'Wa...wait a minute, we can't run back anymore!'

I suddenly slammed the brakes and stopped them: 'We can't run back anymore! There are too many monsters behind us. We can't lead them back—it would put everyone in danger!'

'Who just called me an idiot?'"The Black Sniper took the lead and shouted: 'If we go back, we still have a sliver of hope, otherwise, if the monsters come rushing, we will surely die!'

'No! We can run upstairs!' (End of this chapter)
