My computer has 512MB of memory and a 2.40GHz CPU. Even playing a single-player game is extremely laggy. Can anyone help optimize it?

Even single-player games lag... Your RAM is probably too small... Try switching to 1GB. 512MB is indeed outdated... It's probably too cluttered with junk, cleaning up the system should help too...
