When Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva practiced deeply the Perfection of Wisdom, he perceived that the five aggregates are all empty, and thus overcame all suffering and distress. Sharipiṭa, form does not differ from emptiness, and emptiness does not differ from form; form itself is emptiness, and emptiness itself is form. The same is true for sensation, perception, mental formations, and consciousness. Sharipiṭa, all dharmas are marked with emptiness—they do not arise or cease, they are neither defiled nor pure, neither increase nor decrease. Therefore, in emptiness there is no form, sensation, perception, mental formations, or consciousness; no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, or mind; no form, sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharmas; no realm of the eye, and so on up to no realm of consciousness; no ignorance and also no extinction of ignorance, and so on up to no aging and death, and also no extinction of aging and death; no suffering, origin, cessation, or path; no wisdom and no attainment. Because there is nothing to be attained, the Bodhisattvas rely on the Perfection of Wisdom, freeing their minds from hindrances. Because there are no hindrances, they are without fear, far beyond deluded thoughts, and ultimately reach Nirvana. All the Buddhas of the three times rely on the Perfection of Wisdom and thus attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi. Therefore, know that the Perfection of Wisdom is the great mantra, the great bright mantra, the supreme mantra, the unequaled mantra, which can remove all suffering—it is true and not false. Therefore, the Perfection of Wisdom mantra is spoken: the mantra is said as:
