Upon first reading Wang Wei's "Autumn Evening in the Mountains," I immersed myself in the crystal-clear moonlight scattered across the ground, seeking the artistic conception of "clear springs flowing over stones," focusing intently to hear the pure sound trickling over the rocks, and then faintly flowing into the distance. From then on, this stream of clear water has flowed into the deepest part of my life.

Springs are poetic images full of charm in ancient poetry. Strolling through Tang poems, Song poems, and Ming-Qing sketches, the cold sound of springs often reaches my ears, and before my eyes appears a stream of sweet, pristine, clear water, alongside the figures observing and listening to the spring. These figures are intertwined with blue stones, bird shadows, plum branches, mingled with some moonlight, fresh breeze, and the color of pines.

I have encountered springs many times during my travels. The spring water, like those green, transparent vines, occasionally emerges from cracks beneath my feet, hangs down from cliffs above, sometimes as droplets, sometimes as a line, sometimes as several filaments, or as a waterfall. As it walks across the land, it expresses the various forms of mountains with the sound of water, like a zither, like a flute, like a bell, like a boulder. The crisp sound of spring water is the most beautiful music in the world. Standing by a clear spring, letting the water reflect my figure, I scoop water to wash my face, drink from the spring, and use it as a mirror, discovering that my slightly astringent face has become "full with the color of water."

Dongshan Kuaiyi said: "Everyone has a spring in their heart, but the daily chaotic life covers its sound." The realities of life—marriage, children, the necessities of daily living—bury its figure. In a person's life, whether bitter or sweet, whether gaining or losing, the most important thing is that there must be a spring in the heart. The spring gushes out from deep underground, having undergone rigorous refinement, leaving only purity. It is the purest thing in the world. From ancient times to now, it has flowed continuously, witnessing the life, death, glory, and decline of all living beings. It has never shrunk or deviated because of wind, frost, rain, or snow, nor has it abandoned its ease and contentment due to fame or disgrace. Those who have a spring in their eyes should also have a spring in their hearts. Only with a spring in the heart can one be content with frugality, endure solitude, maintain an independent character from beginning to end; only then can one take steady steps in climbing, not change one's nature; and only then can one possess the poet's charm and the scholar's character. Those with a spring in their hearts spend their lives nurturing the flowers of truth, goodness, and beauty with the spring of their hearts. They have left humanity clear springs of spirit, brimming with vitality, carrying the warmth of life; the exquisite Words of Qu in Chu Ci; the magnificent and heroic poetry of Li Bai; the grand and unrestrained essays of Su Dongpo; Sima Qian's biographies, Hegel's philosophy, Shakespeare's plays, Beethoven's piano pieces, Van Gogh's paintings... These artists, who endured hardships, endowed human civilization with dignity and nobility through the clear springs of their spirit. There are also those who have 'sacred springs' in their hearts, who, with their all-encompassing love that nurtures all things, forge the spirit of a nation, such as Confucius, Shakyamuni, and the great soul Gandhi. ⑤ These clear springs of spirit, originating from noble hearts, gush into my soul, continuously seeping into my skin and internal organs, flowing through my veins. They cleanse the murkiness from my innermost being, restoring me to purity; they wash away the cowardice in my bones, restoring me to strength; they extinguish the restless fire in my spleen, restoring me to peace. They unblock my blood vessels, clear my meridians, allowing me to more harmoniously and sensitively respond to the life tides of the earth and the cosmos. I breathe in the pure and vast vitality of heaven and earth. As the clear springs flow into my body, I can hear the murmuring whispers of the spring deep within my soul. Whenever I am lost in the wilderness of life, I observe the direction of the flowing spring to find my path forward. ⑥ Amid the bustling red dust of the world, every living being has a pool of clear spring in their heart. It is only the trivialities of the mundane and the complexities of life that cloak its clarity. Life cannot endure the pain of having no spring, and truly excellent lives even less so. The hearts of modern people lack clear springs. Such springs must be created by oneself, just like love. We ordinary people should clarify our heart springs with a calm and serene mind, use the heart spring to wash away human desires and material greed, and cleanse worldly troubles as dust. ⑦ Contemplating the heart spring leads thoughts to depth and purity; listening to the heart spring makes life more vivid and abundant. More importantly, one must create heart springs, create spiritual heart springs. The beauty of life lies in this. (I hope everyone reads it line by line, and may you all benefit~UP-7723!!)
