Historical Anecdote: Fengcheng Frozen Rice Candy first originated during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. It is said that in 1756, after tasting it during his southern tour, Qianlong commented that it was 'crispy, fragrant, and sweet.' Initially, it was produced by the people using roasted rice, but later it was made by frying glutinous rice, which expanded, and supplemented with various ingredients such as white sugar, maltose, osmanthus, and red pomelo peel. The original production was mainly in rural areas around Dushi, Tielu, and Luoshi in Hedong, and later several workshops in the county town began producing it. By the eve of the Liberation, it was already popular in Jiangnan and was called 'Jiangnan Xiaoqie.' According to the February 4, 1949 issue of the Republic of China Daily: 'Fengcheng Frozen Rice Candy goes on the market from the sixteenth day of the eighth lunar month until February or March. It has long been circulated within the province and in the Shanghai and Hong Kong areas. It is a timely delicacy at tea gatherings and an excellent gift for New Year visits in former times.'
The 'Zilong' brand frozen rice candy series was born in the hometown of the national hero Deng Zilong—Dushi Town, Fengcheng City (ahem, I am actually from this town. We even have a statue of General Deng Zilong in our town, and the main factory of Zilong Frozen Rice Candy is on our street). The factory produces dozens of varieties of the 'Zilong' brand frozen rice candy series, made from locally sourced high-quality, pollution-free Gui-flavored glutinous rice. The rice is puffed using edible vegetable oil and combined with natural ingredients such as white sugar, maltose, sesame, and osmanthus flowers. The candies are crafted with a combination of traditional techniques and modern technology, containing various amino acids, proteins, vitamins, and other nutrients needed by the human body. The food is fragrant, crisp, and has an excellent taste, offering convenient consumption, making it an ideal green food for home or travel. Regular consumption is believed to help nourish the complexion, enhance beauty, aid digestion, and strengthen the spleen. The candy is characterized by its pure white color, fragrant and refreshing taste, sweet and crispy texture, and melts in the mouth. Its unique flavor and delightful taste leave a lasting impression, making it consistently beloved by a wide range of consumers. The product was rated a National Excellent Product in 1985 and was the only designated product for the 10th Jiangxi Provincial Games in 1998. Currently, the 'Zilong' brand frozen rice candy has become part of catering for Jiangxi Civil Aviation and is a special food for Nanchang Railway.

Fuyang City, Anhui Province, Specialty 'Gela Noodles' Introduction: Gela Noodles (Gela Tiao) probably originated in the 1980s in Fuyang City, Anhui Province. It is a unique food of Fuyang and is quite popular among the locals, available everywhere on the streets and alleys. Its name likely comes from the following reason: in Fuyang, the dialect word for 'stir' is 'gela' (ge la), and since this noodle-like food requires various ingredients to be evenly stirred, it was called 'Gela Noodles'.
