My speculation: facing south. In our country, it seems that the summer winds blow from the southeast. The blind woman feels hot during the day because she is exposed to the sun, so she gets hot. At night, there is no sun, and facing north, she cannot get the southeast wind. So it's south.
Hmm, I guessed south for the 5th floor, so I'll guess north, one of them has to be right, the reason being wind issues.
The window faces south because in summer there can only be a south wind, and at night only the sea breeze is cold.
