It's better not to install power-saving apps; they will only make your device consume more power. Essential apps: QQ, TianTian DongTing, UC Browser, Sogou Mobile Input, 360, Qvod Player (purely for watching movies), and so on. As for games, it depends on the configuration. For a CPU with a maximum frequency under 1GHz, don't even think about large games, but you can still play games of a few dozen MB (such as Inotia, Soul Saver, or Three Kingdoms Kill). A 1GHz (single-core) CPU can barely handle playing Grand Theft Auto. I haven't tried dual-core (mine is 1.2GHz dual-core), but games around 1GB should be playable.
