I just went downstairs for dinner and ran into an old man who looked to be in his sixties. He was carrying a birdcage, leisurely strolling by. I sighed, thinking what a delightful life. But that feeling lasted only a second, because in the next second he pulled out a wildly stylish, colorfully painted phone and took several photos of the bird.
I was instantly shocked. The old man saw me and came over with a cheerful smile. He talked non-stop for half an hour. It turned out he was a retired technician from a mobile phone manufacturing factory in Wenzhou. Many foreign brand phones are actually produced in Wenzhou and then shipped all over the country...
He explained the principles of phone programming and hardware to me in detail. He even told me how he used the signal receiving device from a Google navigation device and installed it on his kidney 5 to track data. What made me feel utterly exasperated was that 5 or 6 out of every 10 words he said were technical terms or English. I couldn't understand a single sentence.
So it turns out what we play with is just the tip of the iceberg. The feeling I had when posting this... I can't put into words. Exasperated, completely exasperated. (PS: I'm from Zhejiang.)
