Movie News: The 'Avatar' sequel will use an underwater motion capture system

As everyone knows, 'Avatar' was filmed using motion capture technology, and since then this technology has been increasingly accepted by mainstream films. However, technology enthusiast James Cameron will not be satisfied with that. In the upcoming 'Avatar' sequels, he will once again push the limits of technology, using underwater motion capture systems for the first time.\ This news was revealed by 'Avatar' producer Jon Landau during his keynote speech at the NAB Technology Summit on Cinema in Las Vegas on Sunday. He said, 'We are testing how to do motion capture underwater. For this, we have specially gathered a group of digital artists for research and development. Although we can simulate underwater environments through computer animation, we cannot replicate the state of a person underwater, so we have to put actors in a water tank to perform motion capture underwater.'\ Currently, the two 'Avatar' sequels are still in the scriptwriting stage. These two sequels will be produced 'back-to-back' and released separately, with 'Avatar 2' not expected to hit theaters until at least 2015. Together with 'Avatar,' they will form a trilogy starring Jake Sully and Neytiri.\ Cameron has revealed that the main story of 'Avatar 2' will take place in the oceans of Pandora. He hopes to co-produce the 'Avatar' sequels with China and has invited Chinese actors to play roles in the films. In addition, he also plans to shoot 'Avatar 4,' which will depict humans' initial exploration and life on Pandora and how they came into conflict with the Na'vi.
