The death toll of the Sichuan earthquake has been updated again (compiled by Fei Bao)

According to CCTV, at present, the first rescue team has arrived at the epicenter and has rescued 26 people, among whom 2 have died. The Party Secretary of Ya'an City revealed that as of now, the death toll in Lushan County has reached 32, with more than 600 people injured.

According to the China Seismological Network, at 8:02 a.m. Beijing time on April 20, 2013, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake occurred in Lushan County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province (latitude 30.3°N, longitude 103.0°E), with a focal depth of 13 kilometers. So far, more than 10 aftershocks have occurred, with about 4 of them being quite strong.

After the earthquake, Wang Dongming, Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Committee, issued an important directive, initiating the Level I emergency response. Secretary Wang Dongming and Governor Wei Hong have led fire, safety supervision, health, and provincial military district emergency rescue teams to rush to the scene. Currently, casualties and disaster situations are being verified.

In addition, Li Shiming, Commander of the Chengdu Military Region, personally stationed at the command center to direct operations. Currently, 2,000 personnel have been dispatched to Lushan, and two helicopters have taken off. Chief of Staff Zhou Xiaozhou led a team to the airport to take a helicopter to the disaster area to command the rescue. At 8:20 a.m., immediately after the earthquake, the military region established an earthquake emergency command.

The China Earthquake Administration has launched a Level I earthquake emergency response and decided to dispatch an emergency work team led by Deputy Director Xiu Jigang to the disaster area. A field work team led by a deputy director of the Sichuan Earthquake Administration is also on the way to the disaster area.

At 9:00 a.m. on the 20th, the National Disaster Reduction Commission and the Ministry of Civil Affairs urgently initiated a national Level III disaster relief emergency response to the magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Ya'an, Sichuan. Jiang Li, Deputy Director of the National Disaster Reduction Commission and Deputy Minister of Civil Affairs, led a work group composed of 8 departments, including the Ministry of Civil Affairs, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Land and Resources, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Health, and the Earthquake Administration, to go to the disaster area to assess the situation and guide the rescue work.

On the 20th, the National Health and Family Planning Commission urgently deployed medical rescue operations for the Sichuan Ya'an earthquake and organized a national health emergency team. Director Li Bin of the Health and Family Planning Commission demanded that the Sichuan provincial health and family planning departments place the rescue of people's lives as the top priority, and under the unified leadership of the Sichuan Provincial Committee and Provincial Government, mobilize the entire provincial medical and health system to participate in emergency rescue.

The Red Cross Society of China has also launched an emergency response. The Red Cross Society of China has allocated 500 tents from the Chengdu Disaster Relief Preparedness Center of the Red Cross to the affected areas.Provinces such as Chongqing, Guizhou, Shandong, Guangdong, as well as the Red Cross of Hong Kong and Macau, have called and are preparing to participate in disaster relief.

It is drizzling locally in Ya'an, and the weather forecast shows continuous cloudy and rainy weather for the next three days, increasing the risk of landslides. We hope the rescue operation can proceed safely and in an orderly manner.

At 8:02 on the 20th, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake occurred in Lushan County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province. According to preliminary statistics measured by the National Seismic Network, as of 10:50, 23 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or above had occurred locally. Among them, there were 12 earthquakes of magnitude 4 or above, with the largest being a magnitude 5.1 earthquake at 8:07.
