A 5.3-magnitude earthquake occurred today in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, and residents' lives have not been affected.

The China Seismological Bureau has officially determined that at 17:11 on April 22, 2013, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake occurred at the border of Khorchin Left Rear Banner, Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Zhangwu County, Fuxin City, Liaoning Province (Latitude 42.9° N, Longitude 122.4° E), with a focal depth of 6 kilometers. Tremors were felt in the eastern part of Inner Mongolia and many areas of Liaoning and Jilin.\Around 17:12 in Shenyang, there were two obvious tremors, each lasting about 7 seconds. Shenyang is nearly 300 kilometers from Tongliao.\Sun Xin, who was visiting a clinic in Huanggu District of Shenyang, told reporters, 'I was sitting on a chair receiving an IV drip when it suddenly shook, like someone was pushing me.' A netizen working in Jiahuan Building, Heping District, Shenyang, said, 'I was just about to get off work and had just put on my coat when a colleague said there was an earthquake. At first, I didn't feel it, but a few seconds later, it shook again. The cabinets in the office shook quite strongly, and I felt a bit dizzy.' Mr. Zhou from Yinzhou District, Tieling, said, 'I live on the sixth floor, and even the standing air conditioner was tilted.'
