No way! What's going on?

My sneakers have a few cracks, so I bought some 502 glue to fix them. As soon as I applied a drop, the shoes became hot, started smoking, and there was a burnt smell. What's going on???

The main component of 502 glue is ethyl cyanoacrylate, which is a very good organic solvent. Yours is made of plastic, right? It will be dissolved.
