Because I Understand

If I am kind, do not think that I am weak. Because I understand: kindness is natural; one should not be evil as a person. If I am tolerant, do not think that I am retreating. Because I understand: endure a little, the wind will calm; give a little, the sky and sea expand. If I am forgiving, do not think that I have no principles. Because I understand: forgive when you can, never take matters to extremes. If I am sincere, do not dislike my straightforward words. Because I understand: insincere flattery is just appeasement, honest advice may be unpleasant but is responsible. If I value emotions, do not mock my persistence. Because I understand: true feelings warm the heart, true love creates eternity. If I am honest and kind, do not think that I am clumsy. Because I understand: virtue can bear all things, helping others brings happiness. If I succeed, please do not congratulate me. Because I understand: fame and fortune are double-edged swords; one never knows blessing from calamity. If I fail, do not belittle me. Because I understand: the river east today, river west tomorrow; the tide rises and falls again.
