In the 1960s and 1970s, people generally believed that Fahai imprisoned Xu Xian only to capture demons; in the 1980s and 1990s, people basically agreed that Fahai troubled Xu Xian because he liked Bai Snake; but by the 21st century, the public almost all thought that Fahai fought Bai Suzhen fiercely because he wanted Xu Xian for himself!
