Misunderstanding 1: Jujube is good at replenishing blood. First of all, it should be noted that it is beneficial for patients with anemia to eat jujube, just like eating other fruits such as apples or grapes. However, it would be a mistake to expect jujube to play a special role in replenishing blood or even treating iron deficiency anemia, just like pork liver or meat.
The iron content of jujube (fresh) is relatively high among fruits, at 1.2 mg/100g. However, like other plant foods, the iron in dates is poorly absorbed and cannot be well utilized by the body.
The vitamin C (VC) content in jujube (fresh) is the best among fruits, 243 mg/100g. VC can promote iron absorption and help prevent and treat iron deficiency anemia. However, as discussed above, we often cannot eat too much jujube (fresh). Eating ten to eight jujubes is completely useless for replenishing blood.
Misunderstanding 2: Jujube supplements vitamin C
The reason to support this statement is that jujube (fresh) is rich in vitamin C (VC), and carrots contain oxidase that can destroy VC, so the encounter between the two reduces the nutritional value of jujube. The first two sentences are correct, jujubes have VC and carrots have oxidase, but the conclusion of the last sentence is wrong. The destructive ability of the oxidase in carrots is very limited. It cannot even destroy the VC contained in the carrot itself. How can it destroy the VC in other foods?
Therefore, if you really care about VC being destroyed, the "best" strategy can only be to not eat the carrot. But there is a problem, because in addition to carrots, cucumbers and other vegetables also contain oxidase that destroys VC, so don't even eat cucumbers? But it still doesn't work. Although other foods do not destroy the oxidase of VC, they will have other disadvantages. For example, eggs contain cholesterol, meat and milk contain saturated fat... shouldn't eat them all? Starve to death.
As for jujubes not being eaten with seafood, jujubes and green onions not being eaten together... nonsense based on the conflict between foods is not worth refuting.
Misunderstanding 3: You should not eat too much jujube
Jujube is a tonic food
As we all know, jujube (fresh jujube) is not easy to digest. This is because jujube not only has a low water content of only 67% (mostly 80% to 90% for other common fruits), but also has a high dietary fiber content of 1.9%, which is significantly higher than other common fruits (such as grapes with an average of 0.4% and apples with an average of 1.2%). Dietary fiber (especially insoluble fiber) cannot be digested in the stomach and small intestine, and can cause gastrointestinal discomfort when consumed in large amounts at one time. The dietary fiber in jujubes is mainly concentrated in the skin. The jujube pulp is crisp, but the jujube skin is very thin and hard. It is difficult to mash thoroughly when chewing. You can try this: after chewing the jujube (fresh jujube), do not swallow it, spit it out and observe. You will find that there are jujube skin fragments of different sizes mixed in. They are separated from the pulp and have different shapes, hard texture and sharp edges. As you can imagine, if your gastric mucosa happens to have inflammation or ulcers after swallowing it, it will be like adding salt to the wound, causing pain or discomfort.
Of course, if your stomach is healthy and has no inflammation, ulcers or wounds, then your tolerance to jujube will be stronger. Of course, even so, eating too much jujube (fresh) can cause stomach discomfort. This is why it is recommended not to eat too much jujube. However, even if there is no obvious gastritis or ulcer, different people have different thickness of gastric mucosa and tolerance to certain irritating substances. Therefore, the appropriate number of jujubes to eat (5 or 35?) is completely different from person to person, and there is no exact limit. So, it's always okay to give a rough amount, right?
In fact, it is meaningless to give a rough limit. Because when eating jujubes, people can determine according to their own situation, and they will know how many jujubes are appropriate after eating them.
