Using your thumb to play with the Google Installer app, there's something in the top right corner inside the app; you need to click 'One-Click Modify Host' for it to work. Does the original poster's phone run Google without lag?
My device doesn't lag. It used to crash all the time, but after installing Google Settings, it stopped crashing.
