At a metal recycling station in the Bangkeng district of Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, an explosion occurred when several workers tried to cut a suspected bomb left over from World War II, killing at least 7 people and injuring 19 others. It is reported that construction workers at a construction site in Bunken District discovered the 225-kilogram bomb that day and immediately sold it to a nearby metal recycler. Workers at the recycler's warehouse thought the bomb had lost its effectiveness and used gas welding torches to cut it, causing the bomb to explode. Metal fragments were scattered near the incident site. The explosion once caused a fire, filled the air with thick smoke, and damaged many surrounding houses.
