Can Google Play run on systems below 4.1?
China News Service, February 21 — Recently, an internal memo from Google has attracted widespread attention. The memo states that starting from February 2014, all newly released Android smart devices will be required to use the latest Android 4.4 system. Devices that do not upgrade will soon be unable to access Google's mobile services, such as Google Maps and Google Play. However, analysts point out that Chinese phone manufacturers are not particularly concerned, as Google's GMS services have a large number of alternatives in China, such as numerous third-party app stores. What is worrying is that not upgrading for long periods, combined with the uneven quality of third-party app stores, poses significant security risks.
