On April 25, news reports stated that after nearly 8 months, Microsoft's $7.2 billion acquisition of Nokia's Devices and Services division will be fully completed. After the acquisition is completed, Nokia will be renamed 'Microsoft Mobile,' but the Nokia brand will be retained. Currently, Nokia mainly has three business divisions: Devices and Services, Here Maps, and Network Equipment, among which the Devices and Services division is mainly responsible for the mobile phone business, including the Lumia brand and all its products. In this acquisition, Microsoft will pay Nokia €3.79 billion, and an additional €1.65 billion to purchase patent assets, totaling €5.44 billion, approximately $7.2 billion. In terms of human resources, after the acquisition, approximately 32,000 Nokia employees involved in manufacturing, assembling, and packaging products will join Microsoft.
It is reported that the Devices and Services division that Nokia sold brought in €14.9 billion in revenue in 2012, accounting for 50% of the company's total revenue. Through this transaction, Nokia will earn a profit of €3.2 billion, approximately $4.22 billion. After Nokia joins the Microsoft camp, Nokia Lumia hardware will also receive more support from Microsoft.
