A person's life is a life of reading. From childhood to adulthood, from adulthood to old age, from birth to death. Knowledge is a big book, time is a big book, nature is a big book, and life itself is even more a big book. One cannot go a day without reading, and a lifetime will not suffice to finish reading. Read people, read the sky, read the earth. Wherever you go, read; for as long as you live, read. There are only those who do not read, not those who have nothing to read; there are only those who cannot finish reading, not those who can read everything; and there are only the ones who gain insight through reading, there are very few who read without benefit.\
Walking on the road, read the road. Whether straight or curved, wide or narrow, flat or steep, there are countless roads in the world, yet not a single one is exactly the same. The "book" of the road is the "thickest," and no one can read the very last page. Walk a distance, read a distance, understand a distance, think and understand, understand and act—acting will lead to greatness. Your footprints are like essays of reflections on the road, sometimes deep, sometimes shallow.\
In the morning, read the sunrise. One day equals one round; how many rounds can you read in a lifetime? Then encountering rain, clouds, or haze, how many rounds can you read in a lifetime? The sunrise will never wait for you to read it; if you don't read it, it will be gone. It won't miss you; only you will miss it. How much you read depends entirely on diligence or laziness. If you don't read the sunrise, how can there be morning light in your heart?\
By the water, read the water. Water is the softest in the world, yet the softest drops can often penetrate the hardest stones. Once you understand water, what can you not penetrate?\
In the rain, read the rain. Rain is a special messenger from the sky, heavy or light, fast or slow, having fallen for countless millennia, yet still tirelessly cleansing the impure world. Reading the rain once nourishes not only nature but also your soul.\
In the snow, read the snow. Snow is a huge blank sheet of paper; only by reading line by line can one understand its essence. These lines are known only to the sky, the snow, and the reader. Some read desolation, some read bleakness, some read the promise of spring… what do you read?\
In the wind, read the wind. The wind is the breath of the mountains, the sea, the fields, cities, nature, and the Earth. Understanding the wind allows you to touch the pulse of the earth, so that your own breath can merge with its breath.\
In the daytime, read the clouds. Clouds are sheets of paper hung in the boundless sky, white, red, or black, filled with the secrets of heaven. Sunshine, rain, snow, colorful clouds, dew, morning, and evening—all are quietly written in the clouds. If you do not go to read, when will you ever know its mysteries?\ At night, read the night. The night is vast and profound, boundless. Without the night, where would the star-filled sky, the eternal moon, the lights of countless homes come from? "The sound of wind and rain at night" "slips into the night with the wind." Whoever understands the night, understands the most beautiful dreams in this world.-\ Under the lamp, read the lamp. The lamp contains another world, a transparent magazine, a book that lights up the night. The whole book has only one line: Only by burning oneself can one become a lamp. Once you understand the lamp, your life becomes like the lamp, and your life will no longer be blocked by darkness.-\ On the mountain, read the mountain. The mountain is a three-dimensional book. With your feet climbing the mountain, it is better said that your feet are "reading" the mountain, for there are eyes on your feet too. If the mountain does not come to me, I will go to it; if it does not read me, I will read the mountain. Climbing a mountain is actually reading the mountain. Once you thoroughly read the mountain, even the highest and most perilous mountains will lie beneath your feet.-\ On the mountain, read the stones. Stones are the three-dimensional characters in the big book of the mountain, various in size, height, and shape. Each stone may hide an ancient mystery. To understand the mountain, one must first understand the stones. Stones speak no words, yet endure through the ages.-\ In the forest, read the trees. Trees are the world's most widely published green magazine. Only by frequently reading trees can one understand growth, understand flourishing and withering, understand prosperity and decline, understand yellowing and green leaves, understand sour and sweet fruit.-\ Among flowers, read the flowers. Flowers are the earliest colored magazines in the world. Only by frequently reading flowers can one hear the sound of blooming, decode the flowers' secrets, and capture the genes of their fragrance. If no one reads the flowers, why do they bloom? For whom do they bloom?-\ By the sea, read the sea. Vastness comes from capacity, breadth comes from inclusiveness, greatness comes from embracing the small, abundance comes from gathering little by little, depth comes from accumulating the shallow, width comes from merging the narrow, enormity comes from collecting the minute, expansiveness comes from linking the narrow; boundlessness comes from absorbing what is bounded. Only by frequently reading the sea, by reading the sea often, can you turn yourself into the sea.-\ Crossing the river, read the river. When read deeply, what flows in the river is no longer water, but drops of seconds, scoops of minutes, barrels of hours, jars of days... Never let this long river of time 'breach,' or your life will quickly 'flow away.'-\ In the world, read faces. When meeting people, first see the face; when evaluating people, first judge the face. The face is a window, human feelings are written on the face, people change expression first, the heart shows on the face. The face is an endless series; it can never be fully performed, never fully read in a lifetime. But appearances can be deceiving, and one cannot judge solely by appearances; one can read the face, but not fully, so it is even more necessary to read the heart. -\ Under the blue sky, read the sky. You may seem great, but on Earth, you are merely a speck of dust; the Earth may seem great, but to the Sun, it is merely a speck of dust; the Sun may seem great, but in the Milky Way, it is merely a speck of dust; the Milky Way may seem great, but in the entire universe, it is merely a speck of dust... Are you still great? -\ At Mid-Autumn, read the moon. There is only one moon, yet millions are reading it, each person hoping to see the moon that exists in their own heart. Reading the moon: one person, one moon; a thousand people, a thousand moons; ten thousand people, ten thousand versions. Sweet moon, sour moon, bitter moon, spicy moon, sad moon, joyful moon, parted moon, reunited moon, cloudy moon, clear moon, full moon, waning moon—what version of the moon is yours? -\ At dusk, read the sunset. "The sunset is infinitely beautiful, yet it is near dusk." This is what the ancients wanted to say, while modern scholar Lü You says: the sunset seen from here is a sunset; seen from the other side of the Earth, it is sunrise. -……-\ Read upwards to know downwards, read afar to know nearby, read the front to know the back, read the surface to know the inside, read fast to know slow, read heavy to know light, read wide to know narrow, read deep to know shallow, read complex to know simple, read thick to know thin, read moving to know still, read inhaling to know exhaling, read real to know false, read ugly to know beautiful, read evil to know righteousness, read loss to know gain, read sorrow to know happiness, read muddy to know clear, read bitterness to know sweetness, read cloudiness to know sunshine, read falling to know rising, read night to know day, read winter to know spring.\ Read the sea to know vastness, read rivers converging to know rushing forces, read the eagle to know soaring, read fire to know warmth, read illness to know health. Read the old to know youth, read death to know life, read grass to know resilience, read fruit to know sweat, read waterfalls to know dedication, read time to know pace, read the past to know cherish, read monuments to know vicissitudes, read years to know change, read a nation to know rise and fall, read the sun to know giving, read the moon to know flaws, read a star cluster to know infinity, read nature to know strength… -\ Only by reading love can one know love, only by reading hate can one know hate, only by reading objects can one know objects, only by reading people can one know people. Reading a person is like reading a book. Reading nobility and sincerity is like walking on a piano, every step producing beautiful melodies; reading deceit is like walking in a swamp, every step warning you that the ground beneath is a quagmire. -\ To understand men is to truly understand women; to understand women is to truly understand men. For a man, a woman who can be read a hundred times in a lifetime without getting tired of her is the most precious book in the world; for a woman, a man who can be read a hundred times in a lifetime without getting tired of him is the most precious book in the world. If you understand it, you understand a lifetime of happiness.- Those who can understand loneliness are the least lonely; those who can understand solitude are the least solitary; those who can understand melancholy are the least melancholic; those who can understand pain are the least painful; those who can understand love are the best at loving; those who can understand joy are the happiest; those who can understand happiness are the most fortunate. - When you read like spring, your heart is free of winter; when you read like autumn, your chest is full of fruit. From rainy days, read sunny days; from dark nights, read clouds at dawn; from withered yellow, read vibrant green; from deserts, read clear springs, and you will have read an artistic conception that ordinary people cannot perceive. The highest realm of reading is to read the soul, to read the life being read together with your own life. - The hardest thing in the world to read is the human heart, including your own. Reading yourself like reading others is challenging; it is difficult to read yourself even when you can understand others. A person's life is not only a life of reading but also a life of reading oneself. Most importantly, understand yourself, care for yourself; first learn to love yourself, then you can love others. Do not impose on others what you do not wish for yourself. (br) Turn ★
