Few works can maintain their popularity, or even see it greatly increase, decades after their creation—'Dragon Ball' is one of them. In recent months, there has indeed been quite a bit of news about this world-class work. After experiencing the surprise of Vegeta's younger brother appearing and the frustration over the live-action version, the next piece of news will surely excite everyone. According to the February 9 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, 'Dragon Ball Z', which has been airing for 20 years this year, will be re-edited using completely new digital technology and will air on the Fuji TV network at 9 a.m. on April 5. 'Dragon Ball Z', the second series in the 'Dragon Ball' animation franchise, aired from April 26, 1989, to January 31, 1996, spanning seven years. The animation consists of six arcs, with a total of 291 episodes plus two specials. Together, Goku-led Dragon Ball warriors and antagonists such as Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu make up the most thrilling depiction of Earth's defense in the entire series. This new work is a remake, so naturally people are concerned about the differences between the new and old versions. According to Weekly Shonen Jump, the new version will be polished with digital technology, restored with high-definition images, and newly edited to recreate the world of 'Dragon Ball Z'; the well-known OP&ED songs and sound effects from the original series will also be fully upgraded to match the visuals; and the star-studded voice cast, led by Goku's CV Masako Nozawa, will re-record their lines for the new edition. There is also another piece of Dragon Ball news today: Akira Toriyama watched the live-action 'Dragon Ball' and finally commented (Toriyama remarks on the live-action 'Dragon Ball', calling it surprising). Although his words were mild, the editor believes the master basically meant, 'Die-hard fans of the original shouldn't watch it; you will be completely disappointed. If you insist on watching, just treat it as a fan-made drama...' So, the return of 'Dragon Ball Z' is probably a consolation for Dragon Ball fans this year... ~~I definitely have to watch it~~
