Ah, this situation, yes, it does happen. Coins are deducted in the auction and get swallowed by the system. Last time during the floor-building event, someone brought up this issue, and the site owner's solution was 'XX donated another 1 million,' and then the site owner allocated 1 million as the event reward, and that was it. The coins couldn't be retrieved. Get to know the site owner more; he is a lovely person.
