With classical and poignant tones and a fusion of Eastern and Western music, it elevates a story of parting sorrow and resentment to a whole new height. The strings in the song are passionately performed by the China National Symphony Orchestra, deep and mournful; guzheng player Cheng Haoru and flutist Chen Yue bring out the ethnic charm, ethereal and moving; singer Hu Xia contributes vocals as a supportive element for his friend.\ According to reports, the inspiration for "In the Blink of an Eye" comes from the classic story of Su Wu tending sheep. The story itself is well-known, and generations of literati have praised Su Wu's national integrity, with his image being fixed as a man of iron will. However, Xu Song took a unique approach, seeking inspiration from the fine details in ancient books and poetry. Before Su Wu went on a mission to the Xiongnu, he left a poem for his wife called "Farewell to My Wife" (source disputed).The poem writes, 'Married with hair bound together, love and affection without doubt,' and also says, 'In life, we should come back; in death, we should long for each other forever.' This deep affection at the moment of parting is extremely moving. However, Su Wu never expected that he would be away for nineteen years. During these nineteen years, the longing between husband and wife separated by distance, the sorrow of parting, is precisely the landscape and emotion depicted in 'In the Blink of an Eye.' Yet the story does not end there: nineteen years later, Su Wu returns to his country, only to find that his lover has long remarried, and Su Wu had also married another woman in a foreign land. Rather than saying that the vows made at the beginning were forgotten, it is more accurate to say that this is life, unpredictable as fate. What is broad about 'In the Blink of an Eye' is that it deliberately portrays this imperfect, uncertain love, from which the flavor of life is savored: whether fidelity or betrayal, longing or forgetting, is not as important as we thought in our youth; as long as true feelings were given in love, there is no regret.
