To be honest, when I found "Super Fleet" in the app store a few days ago, I was a little hesitant. After all, there are too many war strategy mobile games of this kind on the market now, and they are often "annual masterpieces" and "players with millions of players". When you open them, they are probably just for the sake of earning money. But after all, I am an old guy who has played "Deep Sea Hegemony" in the Saipan era. I still have feelings for the naval battle theme, so I downloaded it and gave it a try. No need to brag, I've been playing for a week and let's just talk about my feelings.
Let's talk about the advantages first. What attracts me most about this game is its "retro feel" - not in a derogatory sense. From the battleship model to the UI design, there is a flavor of old-school SLG, a bit like a simplified version of the web game "Sea Battle 2" back then. There are indeed many types of battleships, from destroyers to aircraft carriers, and classic battles such as Midway and Normandy have been restored. Especially the battle scenes. Although it is 2D, the barrage rhythm when thousands of ships launch a salvo, combined with the sound effects, is really exciting. For old players like us who have played "World War II", the feelings are fully shared👍
However, there are many problems. The first is the krypton gold system. Although it is marked "free", it will be difficult to push pictures without spending money from the mid-term. The big R players on the world map are simply "mobile arsenals", and civilian players basically just collect heads in legion battles. Secondly, the pace is slow. Building upgrades often take a few hours, and later more than ten hours. It is okay for office workers, but young people may not be able to stand it. In addition, the novice guide is a bit lengthy. You can hardly move in the first 15 minutes. All you have to do is click next. This design is really not very user-friendly.
Overall, "Super Fleet" is a qualified strategy mobile game, suitable for players who like World War II themes, are not in a hurry, and can accept a slow pace. If you just want to be a casual commander, go online every day to collect resources and fight small battles, then it is quite interesting. But if you are pursuing fast-paced competition, then you are advised to give up. After all, we old guys value more the feelings of those war years, rather than simple and crude data crushing😌
By the way, speaking of the manufacturer Shanghai Nomads, they seem to have released "Super Fleet 2" later. I don't know if they have improved it. Anyone who has played it can also chat. I am still hesitating whether to pursue the sequel.
