To be honest, as an old guy who has been playing mobile games for more than ten years, I am actually a little tired of this kind of match-3 and decoration gameplay. However, I have been free recently, so I downloaded "Dream Home" and played it on and off for a week. I would like to talk to you about how it compares with similar games.
Not to brag, but the originator of this type of game should be "Fantasy Garden", right? That game was really eye-catching, especially the character of Austin the butler was very lovable. Later, "Dream Home", a work of the same developer, actually changed the scene based on the garden, from outdoor decoration to interior design. Essentially, it's still the same thing: you get stars by completing match-3 levels, and the stars are used to unlock room decorations.
Talking about "Fantasy Home" itself, I think its match-3 feel is smoother than that of "Fantasy Garden". Especially for the explosion special effects of props, such as color bombs and paper airplanes, the visual feedback is more crisp and does not have that sloppy feeling. The level design is also relatively reasonable. Although there will inevitably be a tendency to deliberately block levels later to force krypton, the early rhythm is well controlled, allowing players like me who have zero krypton to play it.
However, I have to complain that the choice of decoration elements is too limited. Although it is called "Dream Home", there are actually only a few furniture styles that you can choose from, and most of the time you can only choose one of two or three options. The degree of freedom is far less than that of real decoration games such as "Home Decoration". Fortunately, in terms of plot, the bloody story of Austin and his family is quite interesting. Sometimes I would rather stay stuck a few more times in order to watch the next plot. 😅
Compared with similar games, I think "Dream Home" is more like an optimized version of "Fantasy Garden". The core gameplay remains the same, but the detailed experience is better. If this is your first time coming into contact with this type of match-3 decoration, I recommend playing "Dream Home" directly instead of "Fantasy Garden". But if you feel tired after playing "Dream Home", you may have to try other types of games. After all, the homogeneity is too serious.
Finally, as a digression, this type of game is becoming more and more like an idle game. You go online every day to collect stars, decorate a little bit, and then go offline. For an office worker like me, it's a good pastime and doesn't take too much time. But if you want to seriously hit the rankings or collect, you probably have to be prepared to spend money. 😎
