To be honest, I am an old player who has been playing in the Saipan era. I recently took advantage of my free period to try out the free mobile game "Sandbox Mini World". I have some feelings and I want to talk to you about it.
Let's talk about the conclusion first: I'm not going to brag about it, but this game is very well done in the mobile sandbox, especially friendly to newcomers. But compared with hardcore sandboxes like "Minecraft", each has its own advantages and disadvantages, depending on what you want to play.
The advantage is that the threshold for getting started is low, and you can play all the content for zero krypton. It is rare for a free game to do this these days. The painting style is cute, and the construction system is very intuitive. You can build a small house with just a few clicks of your fingers. It is not a bit anti-human like the MC mobile version. The freedom to explore and customize the world is honestly easier to do than some PC version revisions, especially spending time digging and building roads, which is quite a relief.
There are no shortcomings either. In terms of depth of gameplay, compared with the richness of the equipment system and BOSS battles of "Terriaria", it is still more casual. The types of building blocks are limited, and there aren't that many redstone automation mechanisms, which may not be enough for hardcore landscaping enthusiasts. In addition, although the online function is supported, the server is sometimes unstable and prone to disconnection.
Compared with "Minecraft" on the PC, Mini World is more like a "lightweight version of the mobile sandbox", retaining the fun of creation and removing the complex redstone and learning curve. If you are looking for freedom and simple happiness, this is suitable; but if you want an original survival challenge, you may have to consider other options.
From an industry perspective, the company Shanghai Shimu has accumulated experience in the leisure sandbox in recent years, and its update rhythm is also stable. The paid model is completely free and relies on skins and props to make money, making it very friendly to civilian players. But I hope they can further strengthen performance optimization and community content so as not to disappoint old players.
In short, if you are new to sandboxing, or looking for a creative game that you can play on your phone at any time, you can give it a try. If veteran players are not allergic to the painting style, it is worth experiencing the pure sense of freedom. 😌
