To be honest, someone like me, who has been playing games since the Saipan era, has long been immune to the overwhelming number of "legendary" mobile games on the market. However, an old brother forced me to download "Original Legend" a few days ago. After playing it for a week, I couldn't help but feel unhappy about some things.
Let's talk about similar games first. The legendary mobile games on the market now are either 999 krypton gold beasts like Fun Blue Moon, with ads that want to be stuck in your face; or they are various magically modified versions with fancy skills and winged mounts flying all over the place. To be honest, they look quite awkward to an old antique like me. The biggest feeling that "Original Legend" gives me is that it really is like that.
Not to brag, this game has really put a lot of effort into restoration. The classic torch icon on the login interface, the initial shapes of the three professions, and even the location of the crooked-neck tree in Beech City all match my memory of PC games back then. For veteran players, this kind of detail is like turning over a yellowed photo album. For a moment, I really thought I was back in the Internet cafe in 2002.
Compare the similar mobile game version of "Legend of Blood" - that thing is still in operation, but the changes are messy, the recharge window pops up at every turn, and it is difficult for ordinary players to defeat monsters. In "Original Legend", at least for now, the rhythm of equipment explosion and upgrade is quite normal, and there is no feeling that you are forced to spend money to continue playing. The gameplay of digging for treasure in the mines and protecting the body with magical formations are also classics from the PC gaming era, and they are not just seam monsters shoehorned in.
Of course it's not without its shortcomings. After all, the picture is based on an old engine, and it has a heavy pixel feel, which young people may find rough. Moreover, some systems have been significantly simplified, such as equipment synthesis and enhancement. Although it is easy to get started, it lacks the fun of studying for experienced players who pursue hard core. In addition, the popularity of siege warfare is still not as popular as that of PC games. After all, mobile game users are now divided. It is a bit difficult to regain the feeling of hundreds of people attacking the sand on the same screen.
But having said that, in this era where fast-food games are rampant, it is already rare for us old guys to have a game that is willing to faithfully reproduce the classics without making any nonsense. Playing "Original Legend" is not to climb the rankings and become a boss, but more to get back the feeling of cutting deer, blasting equipment, and hanging up to guard corpses with your brothers.
If you are also an old player from that era, or want to experience the most original gameplay of the legend, this game is worth a try. But if you are looking for cool combat graphics and novel systems, then it may be more suitable to play something else. Anyway, I go up and hang up after get off work every day, and I feel quite contented when I see those familiar IDs in the guild chatting with each other for a while. 😌
