To be honest, I have been playing mobile games for more than ten years. I have come all the way from "Cangshenlu" and "Seven Nights" in the Saipan era, and have witnessed the transformation of mobile games from pixels to 3D. I recently tried "Miracle Sword". As an MMO that advertises as a "3D movie-level magical world", it really made me feel a little emotional - not because it is amazing, but because it represents a typical "routine-based high-quality" game.
Without exaggerating, let's talk about the advantages first. 😎
On the screen, 4399 is willing to spend the money this time. The character modeling and scene details are above average for the mobile version. The light and shadow and skill special effects are indeed a bit "movie-level". The effect of transforming and bursting when fighting monsters is also quite exciting. Moreover, it does not follow the "heavy krypton gold" route - for free, you can get alliance treasure chests, server-wide red envelopes, and even dragon-slaying and beast-fighting prizes to get magical pets, so it is quite friendly to zero-krypton parties. This is more conscientious than some games that claim to be "free" and can't even beat the main storyline without recharging money.
But let's talk about the shortcomings. 🤔
It basically accounts for all the common problems of this type of MMO - automatic pathfinding, automatic combat, and one-click hang-up. The core gameplay is "start a server and level up - daily life - fight in alliance battles". The setting of the alliance competing for secret treasures and cross-server PK sounds lively, but after experiencing it, "combat power comes first", and the traces of equipment and level suppression are obvious. The balance of PVP is average. The fight between you Krypton Man and Gan Emperor is basically an embarrassing situation of "you hit me, I lose blood; I hit you, you lose blood". In addition, the season update is actually to change the skin and create a new gameplay. In essence, it is to change the equipment and draw the divine pet. It is easy to get tired after playing for a long time. Compared with the real "free exploration" of the "Lineage 2" and "Perfect World" PC games back then, it lacks a sense of immersion.
As an old player, I actually miss the time when I played "Wonderland" on the Nokia N97 - although the graphics are rough, you have to take every step by yourself, remember the map in your head, and cooperate when teaming up to play dungeons. That "jianghu feeling" is increasingly difficult to find in this kind of roll-on-server MMO. But having said that, if you want to pass the time easily, or if you like to play alliance battles with your brothers and pursue the refreshing feeling of "999 with one sword", "Miracle Sword" is indeed a good choice. It balances "fun" and "free", has a low threshold, and has many benefits. It is suitable for novices who have just entered MMO, or social animals like me who are too lazy to bother. 🤷♂️
Finally, let's talk about some industry trends: 4399 has been transforming in the past two years. It has gradually developed high-quality mobile games from the previous big web game company, but it has never been able to get rid of the shadow of “numerical games”. To be honest, if it could learn the "light on the heart and light on the krypton" approach of "Sword and Expedition", or simply move closer to a single-player narrative, it might be able to go further. But for now, as a free-to-play MMO, it's definitely worth playing - at least to keep you entertained for a few weekends. 😏
