To be honest, from playing in the Saipan era to now, I have seen a lot of SLG. In the past few years, the Three Kingdoms-themed strategy mobile games on the market are either Sutu-like or Cok-like, to be honest, and the gameplay is similar. But this time "Legendary Three Kingdoms" surprised me a bit.
Not to brag, this game does a good job of being "lightweight". Compared with the marching rhythm of "Lateo Coast" where you have to pave roads, attack cities, use up your stamina, and wait for hours at every turn, this game is obviously more user-friendly. You don't need to study generals and tactics right from the start. You can follow the instructions at the beginning to upgrade the main city to one level, and then send troops to wipe out the rogues. Resources will increase quickly. For players with fragmented time, this is an advantage.
But there are also disadvantages. In terms of graphics and UI, to be honest, it still feels a bit "browser game", especially the 5.0 compatibility prompt, which reminds me of the resolution adaptation problem of Symbian games more than ten years ago😂. In addition, the strategic depth of the game is indeed inferior to Suitu or the Three Kingdoms Strategy Edition. Fighting mainly relies on troop types and numerical values, and there is no too complicated restraint chain.
What's interesting is its "attack other players' main city" mechanism. Compared with the setting where you can only attack by paving the way to your door, here you can attack directly by clicking on the map, and the pace is much faster. For old players who like looting gameplay, this simple and direct feeling is quite refreshing, just like the gratifying gameplay of "Empire Online" back then😌.
In general, if you are an avid fan of the Three Kingdoms theme and don't want to be dissuaded by Sutu's demanding operations, this “Orthodox Three Kingdoms” can be used as a mild alternative. But if you pursue the ultimate strategic game and picture performance, it may still feel a bit boring. The charging mode is 0, and I didn't find any compulsory gold points when I entered it. This is quite conscientious and worth trying.
