To be honest, there have been a lot of flying chess games on mobile phones in the past few years. From the pixel version on Symbian back then to various animated versions later, I have tried some of them. But yesterday I accidentally played the "Flying Chess" game, which made my eyes light up 😄

Its biggest change is the chessboard layout, which is no longer the traditional square spiral track, but a redesigned path, which significantly increases the probability of collision between chess pieces. In the past, when playing classic flying chess, everyone would just throw the dice alone, and there was little chance of knocking someone else off unless they were lucky. But in this version, almost every game can encounter three or four situations where the chess pieces are knocked back to the starting point, which is really exciting. And because there are so many collisions, when playing with friends, the interactive feeling of "Oh you bumped into me" and "Haha, you deserve it" is particularly strong, and it feels like playing with a plastic paper chessboard on the floor 🎲
Of course, there are also shortcomings. The cost of the increased collision probability is that the luck component is heavier and the strategy is relatively weakened. If you are someone who prefers to count moves, control the rhythm, or like to play steadily, you may feel a bit aggrieved - you are already one square ahead of the chess pieces, but you are sent back to your hometown with a dice from the opposite side. And to be honest, the game screen is relatively simple, just the most basic colorful square chessboard, without even any animation special effects, which is a bit shabby compared with the flashy versions nowadays. But having said that, this is a free game, and the developer, Nanjing Moye, a small factory, can be considered conscientious if it can achieve this level of interactivity.
Overall, if you are playing it for nostalgic parent-child interaction or having fun with friends, then this chess game is definitely better than most similar games on the market. But if you are pursuing a deep strategy like Monopoly, or want the presence of various skin special effects brushes, then you may want to take a detour. After all, the original intention of Ludo is just to have a few people sit there and throw dice to see who gets home first 😊
