To be honest, when I heard the name "Tom Cat Wild Party", I was a little hesitant at first. After all, I have been playing since the Symbian era and have seen too many fast-food games with IP reskin. It is inevitable that there will be a question mark in my mind: Is this really a work worth spending time on? But with the nostalgia for the old friend "Tom Cat", I downloaded it and gave it a try. I don't want to brag about it, but after three days, I found that it is really not the kind of perfunctory thing.
Let's talk about the core experience of the game first. It focuses on fast-paced casual shooting, with a game lasting three minutes, which is indeed in line with modern people's fragmented gaming habits. I particularly like the 3V3 football mode. It is different from other MOBA or shooting games. It combines football elements with shooting very cleverly - not only do you have to be able to hit people, but you also have to be able to pass and shoot. Sometimes you make mistakes in order to grab the ball, but it can actually make you laugh. It's quite interesting. The bounty mode and the ice cream mode also have their own merits, especially the ice cream mode. You can eat the ice cream dropped by the opponent to upgrade. The counterattack feeling of "the more you chase me, the stronger I am" makes every game full of variables. As for the chicken-fighting mode with more than 1V, to be honest, the map is not big, but the rhythm is tight, and it will not be as tiring to play as the battle royale, and it is very suitable for relaxing.
The weapon system was another highlight that surprised me. Different weapons are paired with different special effects. For example, if you use a spray gun and a flash, you can create a "carry away with a face" style; if you like long-range harassment, sniper and deceleration rays are also quite disgusting to play. This combination makes every game feel fresh, and you won't get bored because of a single weapon. The choice of characters is also relatively rich. Classic characters such as Tom Cat, Angela, and Hank are all back, and there are various costumes to match. Although some skins require liver or krypton, the basic characters are free, and it is worthy of praise for not forcing krypton.
In terms of graphics and maps, the maps such as forest grassland, ice field and snow field, and sunny beach are quite exquisitely made, and the light, shadow and special effects are all excellent, especially the physical sense of the characters gliding on the ice, and the details are well handled. But to be honest, compared to those shooting mobile games from 3A major manufacturers, the picture quality is definitely still far behind, but as a casual IP work, it has exceeded expectations.
The charging model is zero krypton gold, which I must emphasize. Nowadays, many games have various in-app purchase pop-ups as soon as they are launched, which makes people uncomfortable. As for "Tom Cat Wild Party", at least in the first few dozen hours I played it, I basically didn't feel the malice of "you can't play it without spending money". Season rankings can also be climbed up through skill. Skins and weapons are mainly obtained through activities, which is quite friendly to low-income players. Of course, if you want to collect the complete set quickly, you will definitely have to spend a little money, but this is not a hard requirement.
Finally, let's talk about its audience. If you are the kind of person who only has ten minutes to spare every day and doesn't want to waste too much time on your brain, then this game is for you. If you miss those days of playing Tom Cat on Symbian, it will be more like a reunion with old friends. I'm not going to brag about it. Although it is not an epoch-making masterpiece, it can definitely be regarded as a conscientious work in the category of casual shooting. I hope there will be more new maps and new modes in the future, and don't follow the old path of those IP games that are “sweet first and then cool”. 🤔
