To be honest, when I saw a pixel-style zombie game like "Zombie War", my first reaction was to travel back to 2008. The Nokia N73 screen at that time was only 2.4 inches, but games like "Zombie Town" and "Pixel Zombies" could make our fingers sore on the subway or under the desk. I'm not going to brag about it. Although the graphics of the games at that time were rough, the gameplay was pure. A combination of "bucket + Molotov cocktail" could keep me thinking for a long time.
Talking about this "Zombie War", I didn't really have high expectations when I first downloaded it. After all, there were too many "re-harvested" old games. But after playing it, I discovered that it combines the two classic elements of "bus defense" and "camp construction" very naturally. Rather than pile up monsters without thinking, you have to consider the route of the corpse group, use grenades to clear obstacles, and use stealth to get around them. What impresses me the most is the pixel art style, which is not the Q version that is deliberately cute, but a retro pixel with a bit of roughness - just like those games played on Symbian back then, even the chewing sounds of zombies have their own electronic sound effects.
Compared with today's mobile games where you can draw cards and earn money at every turn, this "old-school" game that pays 0 yuan makes me play more securely. There are no physical limitations, and there are no daily tasks forcing you to go online. It's just that you can fight off a few waves of zombies whenever you want. The name of the developer "Shenzhen Yixin Network Technology Co., Ltd." is quite unfamiliar, but it is rare to be able to create such a non-kitsch work.
I still occasionally dig out old mobile phones to look at those pixel elves in the Symbian system. Times are changing, but some happiness remains the same. If you are also an old player from the Nokia era, you might as well try this "Zombie War". Maybe you will, like me, see the shadow of your youth in the pixelated zombies. 😌
