To be honest, as an old player who came from the Symbian era, I have a complicated attitude toward current mobile games. I have seen a lot of drawing cards to earn gold, changing skins and hanging up, but occasionally I come across a puzzle game that can calm down and play, but it feels like I have found a treasure. "Escape Room 24 Doomsday Crisis" is such an accident.
To be honest, the animation at the beginning of the game took me back to the time I played "escape" games more than ten years ago. Although the picture quality was blurry, the plot and atmosphere were well captured. The Stone of Tears protects the sleeping town, the man in black steals the heart, the leaves fall off... This apocalyptic fairy tale feel, coupled with the gloomy tones of the picture, is quite right. 👌
The gameplay is still the classic clicking to find clues and solve puzzles, but what surprised me is that the process design is very smooth, and there is no "blocking logic" that is deliberately disgusting. For example, the professor had to ask you to catch a fish at the beginning. At first, I thought to myself, wouldn't this waste time? It turned out that fishing is not only a necessary part to advance the plot, but also hints at how the airship will be launched in the future. This kind of small foreshadowing made me, an old player, smile. The role of the ring is also crucial. There is a mechanism at the back that can only be unlocked by the reflection of the ring. The design is considered thoughtful.
In terms of graphics, the compatibility of the 5.0 platform is no problem, and there is no lag when running on my old phone. The hand-drawn style of the scenes has the texture of European and American children's books. It is not the kind of 3D show-off, but it is more attractive. The sound effects are a little thin, but the suspenseful sound effects when solving puzzles are still in place.
By the way, the developer is Shenzhen Martian. I remember that they have made many escape room series. This time there is zero yuan charge, no in-app purchases and no advertising pop-ups. It is simply a clean experience. How can any manufacturer be so conscientious nowadays? 😌
The only thing I want to complain about is that the plot is a bit short. I finished the final ending in about 3 hours of hard work, and I still feel that I still have more to say. It would be better if there were more scenes or subplots. But considering the quality of free games, it's understandable.
All in all, if you are an old puzzle fan like me, or are tired of those flashy "masterpieces", you might as well take a quiet night, put on headphones, and slowly experience this doomsday story. It doesn't cost anything anyway, but what if it gets triggered? 😉
