To be honest, from playing Java games in the Saipan era to now, I think I am a little tired of the mobile games with the theme of cultivating immortals. The days when I used Nokia N81 to play "Xuanyuan Sword: Traces of the Sky" are still vivid in my mind. Although the RPG at that time had simple graphics, the plot and gameplay were solid. The immortal-cultivating games on the market now are either reskinned numerical placement games, or fairy card-drawing games that cost so much money that even my own mother doesn't recognize them...
I'm not going to brag about it, but this game of “Immortal Destiny” has brought me back a little bit of the feeling I had when I was playing single-player Cultivation of Immortality. Its core gameplay is very pure - collecting spirits and gathering energy, refining elixirs and weapons, and recruiting disciples to form relationships. There is no anxiety like a bunch of red dots popping up as soon as you open it to ask you to top up money. I have played similar games such as "Want to Cultivation" for two years. It is indeed a classic, but the later content updates are too slow and it is easy to hang up and become bored. The graphics of "Yi Nian Xiao Yao" are exquisite. After playing for a long time, I always feel like I am helping with planning. Meditating and refining alchemy every day is like clocking in at work😅
I think the advantage of "Xianmingjue" is that it brings back the "feeling of leisure". You don't have to focus on online time, and you don't need to pursue being first in the entire server. Occasionally go online to see your own cave, talk to Taoist companions, or travel around the map to encounter adventures. This rhythm is especially suitable for older players like us who have fragmented time. And its charging model is very clean - 0, which means there are no such things as 648 first recharge, passes, and monthly cards. As a player for ten years, I know very well what this "free" means, but at least in my current experience, it shows no signs of forcing people to spend money. Most of the resources can be obtained by hanging up or completing tasks. This is worthy of praise👍
Of course, there are also shortcomings. For example, the expressiveness of the picture is still a bit retro, and there is no ink animation and special effects like "Yi Nian Xiao Yao". The novice guidance is also relatively weak. When I first entered, I spent a long time looking for how to make an elixir. However, for experienced players, the clumsiness of trying to figure it out on their own is a bit cute, as if they were back to the era of playing stand-alone games and reading strategy books ten years ago.
Also, the amount of content is not enough yet, since it has just been launched not long ago. I hope that the developer, Shanghai Gumo Information Technology Co., Ltd., can continue to update and not be like some games that become ghost servers three months after the public beta. If more interactive content such as random events and sect battles can be added, I think this game has the potential to become a new generation classic of cultivating immortals.
In short, if you are also an old player from the Saipan era, or are tired of the current mobile games that focus on cultivating immortality, you might as well try "Immortal Destiny". It may not make you scream with surprise, but like a cup of warm tea, if you drink it slowly, you can taste the simple happiness of that year🍵
