To be honest, I recently sorted out the old screenshots on my phone and flipped through the archives from when I played "Legend of Shushan", and I suddenly felt quite emotional. At that time, it was still the era of 5.0 system, Symbian had just passed its time, and Android machines were still in their infancy. Being able to use a touch screen to play turn-based games was already very novel. Today I'm not going to brag about it, so I'm just going to talk about this old work that has been forgotten by many people.
Let's talk about the background first. This game is adapted from "The Legend of Shushan Swordsman" by Huanzhu Louzhu. I devoured that novel when I was a child. I never thought that someone could actually make it into a mobile game. It was made by Shanghai Shayi. It was free to download at the time, so there was no pressure to pay for it, and it was quite conscientious. Looking back now, domestic mobile games at that time were indeed purer than they are now, and there was no first-time recharge interface as soon as they were launched.
The core gameplay is turn-based combat with strategic depth. There are hundreds of loose immortals and hundreds of magic weapons and mental methods to match. It's not just to pile up combat power without thinking, but to really use your brain. For example, some formations pay attention to the five elements of restraint, and the timing of triggering the magic weapon must be calculated well, otherwise the opponent will kill you with one strike. What impressed me most was the ladder sword fighting. At that time, in order to prepare a set of combos, I tested it repeatedly for three days, and finally got into the top 50 by luck. I was so excited that I posted screenshots to several groups.
Also worth mentioning are camp confrontations and cross-server battles. There was not so much social pressure at that time. Everyone in the gang chatted about the plot of the novel and discussed the lineup. The atmosphere was very nostalgic. Tens of thousands of people fighting in a gang may sound exaggerated, but you can really feel the excitement when the server is full, unlike now where all scripts are competing for resources.
To be honest, today's mobile games pursue the ultimate graphics and automatic hang-up, but they lack the "brain-burning" fun. Although the vertical painting of "Legend of Shushan" is rough, every character is very interesting, especially the designs of Qingcheng and Emei sects. At first glance, it seems that they have carefully restored the original work. And it can be played with zero krypton. As long as you are willing to spend time studying the configuration, ordinary players can still challenge the krypton bosses.
Maybe young players don't understand why we old people still miss this old game. In fact, it's not that it's fun, but that we were really “playing games” at that time, not to kill time, but to immerse ourselves in a world with friends. Now I occasionally look back on it, but unfortunately the server has been shut down a long time ago, so I can only look at the screenshots and lament how time flies.
In short, if you are also an old player from the Saipan era, or have feelings for the original work, you might as well search for information from that year, watch the video, and say hello to your past self😅
