Recently I played a remastered version of the game "Gentlemen's Jianghu", which is said to be an imaginative adventure world, where ancient celebrities gather together, as well as the children of the plane and the mastermind behind the talk. As a player who has been playing martial arts RPG all year round, I naturally want to compare it with several similar free mobile games, namely "Hanjia Jianghu", "Place Jianghu" and "Jianghu Fengyunlu". These are all works with ancient backgrounds, free play, and some plot or placement elements. A horizontal comparison will help you understand the pros and cons more clearly.
Screen/UI: 7 points
The graphic style of "Gentlemen's Jianghu" is more like a Q-version cartoon. The character drawings are quite exquisite, but the scene textures are rough. Especially the combat special effects have the flavor of a web game from more than ten years ago. Compared with the ink-and-wash style of "Han Family Jiang Hu", "Gentlemen Jiang Hu" is obviously more cheap. Compared with the simple and retro old avatars in "Place of Place", they have their own characteristics. "Gentlemen of Jianghu" is more fancy but not delicate enough. The UI layout is quite satisfactory, the buttons are a bit small, and the mobile phone 5.0 system runs fairly smoothly, but there are occasional loading lags.
Gameplay/Core: 6.5 points
The game focuses on plot and development. You play the role of the son of the plane and recruit ancient celebrities, such as Li Bai and Zhuge Liang. The battle is an automatic turn system, and the skills are released by gathering energy. The plot does have some twists and turns, and you can play with them until they become popular, such as asking Li Bai to write poems as a skill, and Zhuge Liang to perform the Bagua array. But the problem is that the core gameplay is too ordinary, just push pictures - upgrade stars - push pictures, there is nothing new. Compared with the grid + battle flag strategy of "Hanjia Jianghu", "Gentleman Jianghu" is brainless and automatic. Compared with "Idle Jianghu" where you hang up to collect food, "Gentleman Jianghu" requires manual skills, which is more tiring. The only highlights are the dialogues between the characters and the easter eggs, which are so imaginative that they are suitable for use as electronic pickles.
Krypton gold/fee: 9 points
It's completely free and has no in-app purchases, which must be praised. But as a free game, will there be a krypton gold project launched in the future? The current version does not have any paid entrance, and functions such as physical strength and sweeping are all free, which is really good. Comparing the monthly cards and drawing cards of "Hanjia Jianghu" and the VIP and resource gift packs of "Place Jianghu", "Gentleman Jianghu" currently has a perfect zero-krypton experience. But the shortcomings are also obvious: there is too little content, there is nothing to do after the main line is launched, there are no daily challenges or pvp, and it is easy to abandon the game in three days.
Social/online: 4 points
There are basically no social functions, only world channel chat, and no team formation or trading. Comparing the gangs and pvp in "Hanjiajianghu", the social interaction is almost zero. If you like to play jokes quietly by yourself, this is acceptable, but want to find someone to play with? Don't think about it.
Overall rating: 6.8 points
Recommended for: Players who like nonsensical plots, don't mind rough graphics, and just want to experience free stand-alone martial arts. Not recommended for: players who pursue strategic combat, need social interaction, or want to see exquisite graphics. Comparing the same genre horizontally, "Gentlemen Jianghu" stands out because of its free and fun gameplay, but the depth of content and playability are obviously insufficient. We hope that subsequent updates will add more gameplay, otherwise it will easily become a niche carnival. 😊
