To be honest, when I saw the advertisement for "Lehong Fishing", my first reaction was "another routine". After all, from the Saipan era to now, I have seen too many fishing games, such as "free turrets" and "super high explosion rate". As a result, either I don't have enough physical strength or the gold coins disappear in seconds. But this time I downloaded and played it for a week with the intention of giving it a try, and it was a bit of a surprise to say the least.
Thinking back to 2008, I was still playing Submarine War on Nokia N81. At that time, the fishing game was just a stand-alone game with pixelated graphics, but it was pure and simple, and I could play it all afternoon. Later, in the era of smartphones, arcade fishing was transplanted. I still remember the excitement of seeing 3D fish schools swimming for the first time on my mobile phone. Unfortunately, the good times did not last long. Later, the manufacturers all turned into krypton gold behemoths, such as the 100,000 times turret. As a result, the gold coins dropped faster than the fish when one shot was fired. I even wrote a long article criticizing it before quitting the game.
What I like most about "Lehong Fishing" is its "free cannon" system. It's not that kind of gimmick - as long as you spend enough time online, you can really get a super weapon that fills the screen with one shot, and the gold coins you catch have a high conversion rate, so you are not forced to recharge. Although the picture is said to be 3D immersive, to be honest, it is not as good as those stand-alone machines from major manufacturers. However, as an arcade machine, the restoration is good, with rich fish species and a good sense of impact. Especially when the boss fish comes out, the explosion special effects have the flavor of the arcade machines of that year.
Of course, it also has shortcomings: the level design is still traditional, and you still have to be more cautious if you want to rank up in the later stage. But as a free game, it is rare in the game market of 2025 to be "free" to this extent. I remember that ten years ago, when I played the first version of "Fishing Master", I was like this. I spent half an hour saving gold coins to exchange for a cannon, and then blasted all the fish with one shot. The pleasure is still unforgettable. Perhaps "Lehong Fishing" is trying to get back this feeling.
Finally, I would like to say one more thing. Shenzhen Linzi Interactive Entertainment used to focus on casual games. This time it transformed into arcade fishing, which shows its sincerity. If you miss the days of throwing coins to fish in arcades, or are tired of those "free" traps, you might as well give it a try. At least as a nostalgic diversion, it didn't disappoint me. 😌
