There are three main roles to choose from initially in the game: porter, hunter, and explorer. Many people choose based on their feelings, but the actual benefits vary greatly. I will compare the data directly.
The porter initially comes with "load +50%" and "collection speed +15%". This character is completely bug-like in the early resource accumulation period. At a measured speed of 0.5 times, a porter can chop down a tree in 10 minutes and produce 1.3 times as much wood as a hunter and 1.7 times as much as an explorer. In terms of construction efficiency, due to the high load-bearing capacity and the fewer times of carrying materials, the time to build the first wooden house is about 40 seconds faster than that of the hunter. If you are looking to quickly upgrade your main base and unlock technology, porters are the most cost-effective start. The disadvantage is that the combat-related bonuses are zero, and you must manually dodge when encountering a wave of monsters at night.
Hunter, initial "ranged damage +20%" and "food gathering efficiency +30%". The character's strength lies in the mid-term. In the early stage, porters and porters are slightly slower than resource accumulation, but by the second day, hunters can easily kite monsters remotely with bows and arrows, and the survival rate is extremely high. I made a survival days statistics. On average, porters can survive until the 4th day, and hunters can survive until the 8th day. If your goal is to explore the depths of the maze, Hunter is the only way to go, because the elite monsters in the maze can only be cleared with low loss through long-range output. However, hunters have a fatal shortcoming - they have zero construction-related attributes, and it takes a lot of time to expand their homes, especially when building defenses in the later stages.
Explorer, initial "movement speed +20%" and "map exploration area +40%". This is an underrated character. On the surface, the collection battles are not outstanding, but the actual benefits are reflected in "discovering treasure chests" and "resource points". I used the explorer to run the map of the entire island during the three weeks of opening up the wasteland, and compared the archives of the other two characters. The explorer found shipwrecks and rare mineral points two days in advance. These resources were at least more than the amount of pure manual collection in the previous 10 days. When exploring the maze, the advantage of moving fast is more obvious. You can avoid traps and save about one-third of the time on each maze level. The disadvantage is that you can only fight against monsters for the first three days, because there is no damage bonus, and it is very easy to overturn once you are surrounded by more than three monsters.
To summarize, three data comparison points are given: the survival rate in the first three days is 85% for hunters, 78% for porters, and 72% for explorers; the basic resource collection volume in the early period (0-4 days) is 100% for porters, 88% for hunters, and 76% for explorers; the depth of maze exploration within a week, explorers are two levels ahead of hunters and four levels ahead of porters.
My personal conclusion is: If you are an office worker and can only be online for one hour a day, I recommend porters. Automatically renewing resources is the most worry-free. Hunters who like to challenge operations and enjoy the thrill of battle will feel great after the middle level of the maze. If you want to play some evil ways and make a fortune by opening treasure chests, Explorer can bring you unexpected surprises. There is no absolute optimal, only the game rhythm that suits you best.
One final reminder, don't mix up the attributes of these three characters. Focusing on one line and practicing until the second stage of skill transformation is the core gameplay of this game. If you have any new understanding, please come downstairs to discuss it. 😏
