Brothers, as an old handheld player from the GBA era, I recently discovered a mobile game called "Tower Defense Era". After playing it for a few nights, my eyes actually got a little wet😭
I still remember the days when I was hiding in bed and playing "Defense Formation" on PSP. Although the screen is small, you have to repeatedly think about the placement of turrets in every game, and watching the enemies fall one after another, the sense of accomplishment is much stronger than in current mobile games. Nowadays, the graphics of mobile games are better, but they always feel like they are missing a bit of soul.
But "Tower Defense Era" is different. Although it is a mobile game, it allowed me to find the pure joy of "strategy + collection" that I had back then. More than a hundred superheroes, each with different factions and skills, is as addictive as studying character matching when playing "Fire Emblem" on GBA 🔥
What impresses me most is its "placement" system - you don't have to stare at the screen all the time and click wildly, but you can calm down and think about the lineup. I still remember when I played the tower defense map of "StarCraft" on the NDS. In order to defend against a wave of rush, I had to repeatedly adjust the route. Now "Tower Defense Era" has a similar flavor, but it is more relaxed.
Of course, mobile games and handheld games are still different. In the past, it hurt to press physical buttons. Now, although swiping the screen is comfortable, it lacks the "click-click" feeling. But one thing hasn't changed - the story of playing until midnight and being scolded by my wife for “not sleeping yet” is still going on😂
If you also miss the days of playing tower defense on handheld consoles, or want to get back the leisurely feeling of "slowly thinking about tactics", you can try this game. It makes me feel that although I can't go back to my youth, the energy to try again and again for a level is still hot hidden in my mobile phone.
