To be honest, as an old guy who has been playing mobile games since the Saipan era, I still have some emotions when I see the stickman theme. At that time, I was playing "Stickman Fighting" on Nokia N73, and I could create combos with pixel manipulation. Now I feel excited when I think about it. I recently tried this game called "Stickman Clash of Clans". I'm not going to brag about it, but let's talk about my experience.
Let's talk about similar games first. There have been many strategic tower defense mobile games in recent years, such as "Clash of Clans", which is heavy on management and attack and defense. To be honest, it is too boring to play in the later stages, and you can't catch up with the big guys on the list without spending money. There is also the "Stickman Wars" series. The IP is old, but the graphics have not changed much, and the operation feel is also the same as ten years ago. New players may not buy it. In comparison, "Stickman Clash of Clans" has found a balance point.
Advantages: The core of the game is "commanding stickman soldiers on the battlefield". It is not the kind of gameplay where you just hang up and wait for a CD. You need to manually adjust the formation, switch arms, and predict the enemy's weaknesses. This is very suitable for experienced players like me. Although the shape of the stick figure is simple, the action design is quite funny. For example, the archer will shake his head when shooting, and the warrior will roar before charging. It makes a 30-year-old man like me couldn't help laughing😄. The types of arms are also rich enough, from basic swordsmen and shooters to later-stage mages and trebuchets, and they can be combined with strategic depth. The most important thing is that it is a 0-charge mode and there are no pop-ups to force you to play, which is very rare in current domestic mobile games.
We have to mention the shortcomings: the novice guidance is too rough. I didn't understand how to recruit troops until after the first level. A skip or review function should be added to the teaching mode. In addition, the difficulty curve of the level is a bit steep, as if a bunch of high-level arms suddenly appeared in the tenth level. An office worker like me usually doesn't have time to study the restraint of arms, so I was stuck for three days before I passed it😅. Also, the game does not have account cloud storage, so you have to re-update it when changing your phone. It is really inconvenient to not have cloud storage these days.
Overall, if you are a nostalgic person, or are looking for a strategy game that does not take up time or money, and relies purely on operation, you can give this one a try. It is lighter than "Clash of Clans" and more refined than "Stickman Wars". Although there is still a lot of room for polishing, watching the stickmen fighting in full swing makes you feel like you are back in school. I hope that the development team can continue to update, and don't just run away like some small companies after they come out.
