Hello everyone, I am a game reviewer👾. Recently, I saw someone talking about the game "Romance of the Three Kingdoms: Devouring Unbounded" on the forum. I just finished it. I used this topic to talk about my personal scoring standards for your reference.
Let me start with the overall review: 7.5/10. It is a qualified nostalgic turn-based RPG, suitable for players who like "Swallowing the World", but it is not a masterpiece.
Picture/sound effects: 7 points
It is a replica of the classic red and white machine, but it has been made high-definition, with more delicate pixels and bright colors. The UI is relatively simple, and there are hidden elements for map exploration, such as treasure chests in the grass and forks in the maze, which are visually quite satisfactory. The BGM is a remake of a classic melody, but the sound effects are ordinary and nothing outstanding.
Gameplay/system: 7.5 points
The core is classic turn-based combat, recruiting generals, setting up formations, and making strategies. The formation system is deep, such as the "Bagua Formation" to increase defense, the "Fish Scale Formation" to increase speed, and the combination of different generals' skills can create a chain. The battle pace is slow, suitable for players who like strategy, but continuous battles can be a bit tiring. The single-player plot advances with a fair degree of freedom and abundant side tasks. Overall, the gameplay is solid, but lacks innovation and adds a lot of emotion.
Krypton gold/payment: 9 points
It's completely free with no in-app purchases. It's a pure stand-alone game. You can get some resources by watching ads at most, but it's not mandatory at all. Compared with the current pile of krypton gold mobile games, this is simply a piece of cake. However, there is no option to pay to speed up or skip battles in the game. It is purely dependent on the game, which is not very friendly to players with limited time, but the flaws are not hidden.
Social/Online: No rating
Pure offline single-player, without rankings, guilds, or PVP, it is suitable for lone wolf players. If you want to bring friends to play together, you can only play separately. The social attributes are extremely low, but this is not its shortcoming, this is the positioning.
Summary: The scoring criteria vary from person to person. If you are nostalgic, like strategic turn-based systems and are not disgusted with it, this game is worth a try. If you're looking for visual impact or fast pace, you may be disappointed. My rating is based on its positioning of “reproduction + mild innovation” and is overall fair. How much do you think this game is worth? Welcome to discuss ~
