Hello everyone, I am a reviewer. Today I want to borrow the game "Three Kingdoms" to talk about what I usually look at when rating games, and also recommend this old war chess that is quite sentimental. After all, it's "Happy Paradise". Let's chat casually, don't be too serious 😄
Let's talk about the picture first. This game looks like it was created several years ago. The painting style is classic retro 2D pixels, and the character avatars have a flavor of the illustrations from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Nowadays, it is definitely not as good as the light pollution special effects of a bunch of krypton gold mobile games, but it is better than clean, pleasing to the eye, and does not hurt the eyes. According to my standards, I would give the graphics a 6 out of 10. It's not bad, but it's not amazing either. It's a type that veteran players will like.
Focus on the gameplay. "Three Kingdoms: Legend of Soochow" is essentially a war chess strategy game. You control Sun Quan and lead a group of Soochow generals to fight all the way from the Battle of Chibi. Traditional war chess elements such as troop restraint, terrain bonus, and general skills matching are all present, and the difficulty is well controlled - it is not the kind of mindless map pushing, where you have to use your brain to move and accumulate anger to use skills. What impressed me most was the Battle of Hefei. Zhang Liao blocked the door and almost made me autistic. It took me three attempts to pass, which gave me a great sense of accomplishment. Therefore, I give the gameplay 8.5 points, and the 1.5 points are deducted because the enemy values in some levels in the later stages are a bit inflated, and the level needs to be refreshed a little.
Next, let's talk about krypton gold. This game can be downloaded for 0 yuan. I have not found any in-app purchases until now. There is no such thing as stamina or VIP. It is purely a buy-out experience. Logically, it should be given a full score, but considering that it may have been too "clean" and the developer did not update it later, I will give it a conservative 9.5 points. At least players are paying for the complete content and don't have to be cut off.
There are obvious shortcomings in the social aspect - completely single-player, no online battles, no mutual assistance from friends, and not even a ranking list. A bit of a pity for people who like to play with friends. But it's a good thing for people like me who are afraid of society. I can play whenever I want without having to make time. I would give it a 3 for social networking, it depends on personal needs.
To sum up, my overall rating for "Three Kingdoms" is 7.5 points (on a 10-point scale). The advantages are obvious: solid gameplay, no krypton money, and a sense of immersion in the plot (Sun Quan's perspective is quite fresh). The disadvantages are that the picture is old, there is no social interaction, and it is a bit annoying in the later stage. If you are a player who likes old-school strategy games and doesn't mind the pixelated style, this game is definitely worth a try. If you only love 3A masterpieces or those that require you to play even the wrong game, then this may not be to your liking.
Finally, a digression: I always feel that game ratings should not just look at the graphics and popularity, but also whether it has achieved the ultimate in its positioning. "Three Kingdoms Soochow" is the kind of old-school game that knows what it wants, and it deserves an above-average score. What do you think?
