As a veteran who has been playing various tower defense games all year round, I was recently introduced to "You Tang Tian Xia" by a friend. After testing it for a few days, I wanted to talk about its positioning with several similar works on the market. Let me first explain, I am not bragging or making any accusations, it is purely subjective and discussion is welcome.
In terms of graphics, unlike the two-dimensional, gray wasteland style of "Arknights", "You Tang Tian Xia" takes a 3D fantasy route. The scenes and character modeling are more realistic, and the color saturation is high. It looks like a Chinese-style fairy-themed print. Compared with the hand-drawn cartoon style of "Kingdom Defense", it is more immersive, but the light and shadow details and rendering are not as refined as "Arknights". If you like Chinese fantasy themes, you should be hooked by this picture at a glance.
In terms of gameplay, it focuses on the tower defense strategy of "hero + five elements". You can control 1 protagonist and 5 heroes. Positioning, formation, and racial restraint are the core. This is very similar to the operator positions and career positioning in "Arknights", but "You Tang Tian Xia" has five elements that are in conflict with each other, and the variables are even greater. Compared with the pure turret + prop flow of "Defend Carrot 4", the strategic depth of "You Tang Tian Xia" is obviously higher, but the automatic combat function can still leave some food for the weak. The disadvantage is that training heroes requires a lot of resources, and it is easy to get stuck in the early stage.
The most noteworthy aspect of the krypton gold dimension is that this game is priced at 0 yuan, and according to actual testing, it is basically “can be played with zero krypton”. Compared with the heavy card drawing of "Arknights" and the one-time buyout of "Kingdom Defense", "You Tang Tian Xia" is more like the placement + tower defense version of "Sword and Expedition", but the card drawing probability is much friendly, and the free resources given every day are enough for you to slowly assemble a main lineup. Unless you want to reach the top ten in the arena, there is really no need to spend money.
In terms of social interaction, it is strong in competitive gameplay and team dungeons, but it lacks the infrastructure interaction or guild chat system like "Arknights". If you like to push pictures alone, this is no problem; if you want to find fixed teammates to connect with, you may need to form your own group.
To sum up: If you are tired of the high-intensity team pressure of "Arknights" and want to experience a deeper strategy than "Defend the Carrot", "You Tang Tianxia" is definitely worth a try. The graphics are unique, the gameplay is thoughtful, and it's not too overwhelming. The disadvantage is that the novice guidance is a bit long-winded, and the feeling of repetition in the later stage is a bit strong. Give a score: 8 points for the screen, 8.5 points for the gameplay, 9 points for gold, and 6 points for social interaction. Recommended for all mild to moderate tower defense fans. 😎
