Dear friends, today I was browsing the forum and saw a new game "Three Kingdoms War", which almost brought tears to my eyes. 😭
I remember when I was in elementary school, a "Three Kingdoms" cassette on the Famicom would make me and my brother fall out over the controller. At that time, there was no such thing as "logging in to get a magical general". Being able to gather the five tiger generals was like winning the lottery, and you had to rely on luck to search. Now "War of the Three Kingdoms" comes with the gift of a god general, which makes me, an old player, feel mixed emotions - I should have known I wouldn't have saved the 50 cents as a new year's gift.
But having said that, this game is really interesting. It said "Say goodbye to staying up late and fighting in the city." My first reaction was: Damn, isn't this the same youth I used to secretly drive the Overlord in the middle of the night to play "The Continent of Overlord"? 😆 At that time, there was no automatic pathfinding, no one-click recruitment, everything had to be done manually. Once you hit the city, you had to stare at the screen for two hours, and your eyelids were shaking in class the next day. Now "Three Kingdoms War" focuses on "manual operation to siege cities", but it doesn't have to be as hard-working as before. This idea is quite clever - it retains the "control feeling" of the old game, but cuts off the "immortal cultivation feeling".
Looking at its units, equipment, formations, and supplies, my first reaction was: Isn't this the same thing as “Admiral's Decision”, but it's been made into a mobile game version, and cross-server PK has been added. To be honest, what old players miss most is the sense of "one step at a time" strategy, not the current mobile games that automatically fight and build troops. This game dares to say that it "subverts traditional strategy games", and I want to see how it subverts it - if it can really combine the flavor of the Famicom era with the convenience of today's mobile phones, it would be absolutely awesome.
By the way, it also engages in cross-server real-person PK across the entire network. This reminds me of when I played "The Heroes of the Three Kingdoms" and played online with my classmates. Every time I felt like the guy on the other side was cheating. Nowadays, you can just take out your mobile phone and fight with players from all over the country at any time. This feels much more exciting than using dial-up phone lines to access the Internet at that time. 😎
Finally, I would like to say something from my heart: There are so many mobile games now, but not many can make me, a 35-year-old comrade, shine. Although "Three Kingdoms War" looks like a new game, the spirit of the "old Three Kingdoms" is still there. I remember when I played Three Kingdoms on Atari, I had to use a magnifying glass to see the pixels; now you can see the hairs of the generals on the mobile phone screen. This is the progress of the times. Not much to say, I downloaded it to see if this game can help me regain the feeling of "the army is pressing down on the border and marching northward". I'll report the results later! 🎮
