You call this a stand-alone? I clicked in just to curse.
Let me first explain, I usually take a detour when I see the words "Tom Cat".
The screen full of skin-exchanging krypton gold, kindergarten UI, and the never-ending recharge pop-up window are simply synonymous with electronic waste.
But today I was stupid and came across this post in the selfie dating section. I clicked on it and took a look: Free? No in-app purchases? Do you still focus on raising pets?
I wonder if the sky is falling? When did Xiamen Weihu become so conscientious?
I downloaded it with the mentality of stepping on the thunder, and after playing it for half an hour, I actually felt a little silent.
Let's talk about the advantages first, lest you think I'm stupid.
There really are no in-app purchases for this thing.
There is no stamina bar, no card drawing, no limited time activities, and no forced viewing of advertisements.
When you enter, there are five small animals: Tom Cat, Angela, Hank, Ben, and Becca Rabbit.
Feeding, bathing, playing with, changing clothes, decorating the house...all for free.
At first, I rummaged through every corner vigilantly, for fear of missing a hidden 648 recharge entrance.
It turned out not to be.
The gameplay is also very pure, it is the most original electronic pet simulator.
You can switch between different rooms, and each animal has its own preferences and mood values.
The interactive actions are very detailed. There are dozens of kinds of food to feed, and you can also grow vegetables, fish, and do crafts.
I even took Tom Cat to learn the piano. He would really press the keys on the keyboard according to the beat. It was silly but very cute.
The graphics are just like that, cartoon rendering, not ugly but definitely not stunning.
But it is smoother, with no lag and no bloated social functions.
The shortcomings are also obvious.
The content is too shallow.
After playing for two hours, you have basically tried all the interactions, and the rest is just repetitive work.
There is no growth curve, no plot, no challenge.
It's a stress-free gadget that can be turned on, touched twice, and turned off at any time.
And it's really noisy.
Animal sound effects, background music, click feedback sounds... all the sounds were crowded together, and I turned down the volume to the minimum after playing for half an hour.
But if you have children at home, or you are the kind of casual player who likes to raise something in his spare time, this game can indeed be downloaded and tried.
At least it doesn't cheat you out of money, doesn't force you to socialize, and doesn't make you lose your temper.
In today's environment where even single-player games are starting to stuff passes, this kind of "cleanness" itself is already a kind of scarcity.
I wanted to curse, but I couldn't.
Because it doesn't do anything wrong, it's just not suitable for hardcore single-player players like me.
Recommended to anyone who hates spending money and just wants to find an electronic potted plant.
At least it's a hundred times cleaner than those "cute" mobile games that make you bankrupt by drawing cards at every turn.
