Let's talk about Song of Gravity first. Although this game is not an adaptation of an anime IP, its style of painting and music made me instantly think of a "Gravity Power" series - the protagonist uses telekinesis to control the ball and shuttle between lasers and magnets. The BGM is just like the soundtrack written by Hiroyuki Sawano for "ALDNOAH.ZERO"! Moreover, the level design has a special sense of "puzzle solving + parkour", which is a bit like the tension of the time loop in "The City Only I Don't Exist" ~ But to be honest, I fell into the trap purely because of the two-dimensional gradient color scheme of the UI, which is so exciting!
But when it comes to games adapted from anime IPs, I can't help but want to complain. I recently played a mobile game adapted from "Toilet Paper from Another World". Although the vertical painting restored the original painting style, the voice actor was cheaply outsourced. The male protagonist's voice sounded like it had just been fished out of a rice cooker (laughs). The plot was so modified that even my own mother didn't recognize it. The touching "Confession in the Rain" in the original work was compressed into a dialogue box, which is even worse than Rem's deleted plot in "Zero - Starting Life in Another World"! In comparison, the restoration of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Fire God Blood Wind Tan" is superb. Although the battle system is simple, as soon as Tanjiro's "water breathing" special effects and Hanae Natsuki's voiceover came out, I went straight through Mugen City!
So, when I was playing Song of Gravity, I thought, if this game could have a skin like "Madoka Magica", with the QB as the ball and Madoka as the portal, wouldn't it be possible to directly become a god? (Laughs) But having said that, purely original games can also be so popular, which shows that "two-dimensional painting style + excellent music" is my ultimate weakness~ Do you have any unpopular games that fell into the trap because of the painting style? Come and help me!
One last shout-out: If you see this post from Taoteng Interactive, please release a co-branded anime DLC and I'll be blown away! ╰(´︶`)╯
